I wouldn't be too sure about this. Thc doesn't degrade until at least 60 degrees Celsius especially not when it's growing. In fact you could argue that since hps is warmer it is more conducive to more potent bud since the warmer temps help open the stomata and transpiration increases, more nute uptake means more energy available and faster use of energy. This of coarse assumes you supplement co2.

If your all about potency go with metal halide or ceramic metal halide, or at least just have a UVB bulb in with whatever lig your using.

And to be honest, you couldn't pay me to grow tangerine dream hah


All that said my led plant looks frggin epic, love the frost and ease of growth.

Karr nailed it I believe, this is why I am after LEDs or anyone should be after LEDs. Ease of growth. I've noticed every HPS user bashes LED but the truth is those lights are more expensive because they are the future, and they are shockingly energy efficient saving you money in the long run over HPS. However, I'm gonna be growing in a freakin' cardboard box so I think LED is really my only option (no heat) lol!!

holy crap I never thought of that

From all the led hps comparisons i have seen, the ones that were well done/controlled, the potency is very close to one another. At this time i think the biggest factor in a strains potency is the grow itself. An optimal environment, optimal nutrient level, adequate light of any type, and proper soil/medium aeration are all going to be the biggest game changer, that and some UVB.

Decided that i'm going to go with the Hydroponics hut Pro Grow 90 over the 135w Blackstar because I bet the PG90 will still draw more watts than the BS135 making it a more effective light overall, and $20 cheaper The fact that Blackstar's pull less watts than advertised could possibly be a marketing scheme by BS to create the illusion of cheap LEDs,

beta than the Chinese crap i know the blackstar dont pull 240w buts it truly is the best for the price if its justy about the $20 then you are just being a tight also its not about the watts its about the lumens so keep that in mind also the blackstar is anything but cheap ten times brighter thank than the Chinese 120w but more of less runs the same power i think i paid more the the Chinese one

Lumens are only a measurement of light that the human eye sees, when talking about leds its PAR or Photosynthetically active radiation, so while a hps or hid or cfl may have a higher lumen output,it will have a lower PAR rating, here is a video that explains it properly with scientific equipment showing you how it works,

lol fluffy buds from cfl's.... powerplant cfl's are easily on par with the equal wattage hps bit rock solid buds, hangin a 250w about 2-3 inches above top

My avatar is a chemmy jones grown in a pc with a 125 watt cfl,it is anything but fluffy as you can see
