LED wattage rating

Hello fellow growers, I'm looking for some decent LED grow lights. The problem I'm having is getting an actual watt usage of LED's. All the lights I've looked at will say what it replaces but not the real watts of the lights. Is there an actual 300/600 watt LED that won't break me? Thanks. Happy growing.

Horticultural Lighting Group - Quantum Boards

Timber Grow Lights - COBs

TastyLED - COBs.

Geyapex - COBs

Those are the ones i know about and have researched.

This being said, I've been very (very!!!) satisfied with my own DIY COB lights. If you have any inclination towards DIY and have some tools, it's a very neat way to get into lighting, plus you have near-complete control over what you end up with.

That would be nice, I really appreciate your help. I'll do the research and see what I can do. Thanks again.

Use PAR as a comparative. More universally used now with PAR meters and Apogee spectrum analysis meters today. Many larger companies will provide both spectrum and PAR data willingly.

All or at least MOST of the lights you're seeing that only show equivalent wattage are going to be the blurple/chinese/mars/viparspectra type LED's.

For the most part (what I've noticed) is those lights typically have an actual wattage of 40%-50% of their stated equivalent wattage.

I own a chinese LED that was advertised as 300W and it pulls 134W from the wall. Honestly though, it serves as a great veg light... until the day I hack it with some COB's.

I'm seriously considering DIY Cob's.

Maybe my 600/1200 with one power switch is a 300 watt. Lol I could live with that.

Many led light companies advertise the wattage as the total of all the diodes maximum wattage. The drivers determine how many actual watts the light can produce minus the power to run the fans.
