And you should probably research something called "in bulk" or "wholesale". Manufacturors aren't buying one LED at a time. They are certainly in a position to negotiate quantity pricing, whether you think so or not.

I am going to veg for about 3 to four weeks, depending on how they come along. I'm still a bit new at this, and I have some older plants about to come out of veg next week, that way they will be my pioneer flowering plants prior to these experiment guys. I'm not quite comfortable enough to throw seedlings straight into 12/12.

Yea, I am concerned about that. The MH vegs like a monster. The LED has a clear disadvantage there, as well as the temp difference. The MH grow box is about 11 degress warmer (81) than the LED (70). That will cause some variation.

IMHO you def need to get the temp up in your LED chamber. Plants metabolism is very temp sensitive. Basically lower temp=slower growth and you'll find that in multiple studies. I always ran 80F rooms and the actual temp under the lights right at the plants was always about 5degrees hotter than room temp so I plan on running my LED room at 85F

Yeah, the low temp is becoming an issue. I have my grow room kinda chilly (65 degrees) that way all I need is a fan or two to cool my HIDs, this plops the veg room at anywhere b/t 78 to 82 degrees with the lights on. Now, just the MH alone warms the entire room up to 71 but that is near the ceiling, which the LEDs Are not. When I put my NYPD in flower this weekend, I plan on splitting the flower room in two, (as I will have only 4 plants in there) and Putting the LED and 4 test plants in there with a temporary divider to stop the light from traveling from one side to the other. I will pass the warm air from the HPS to the LED chamber which will then exhaust it at a slightly lower cfm. I'm hoping that will pump the temp up to 80 degrees. Until then though, this is all I got.

Well not to perpetuate the animosity, and ledbudguy you could sure work on your delivery 
but when I was in the industry we used to order 10,000 LED's at a time and we couldn't buy 3W CREE for $3 a piece, I'm pretty sure couldn't even but 2W for that price. I remember the 3W CREE's in some of the specialty spectrums being over $12 and that was wholesale.
Anyway I'm not crapping on your light choice Hudson becaue MY PANEL DOESNT HAVE CREE's and I'm okay with that
Just pointing this out because if some manufacturer says they are selling a panel with x number of LED's and they use CREE but the panel is cheap then it's probably misleading and they probably only use a few CREE and they are probably the cheaper 1W white ones.
Quite honestly unless you have Trump money, in which case you probably wouldn't be growing your own
, I don't think any of us could afford to buy a panel that had ALL 3W CREE LED's. A 300W panel would be around $3,000

Yeah, I'm starting to see that now. A photon is a photon where I come from. Oh well, 500 bucks better produce something. I just need to get that temp up in there. I got a space heater I can toss down below and hook to a thermostat switch. You think a kerosene heater would work (maybe add some CO2 and possibly eliminate some of the dank stench in there?)

The kerosene heater won't eliminate dankness, but it will heat your space up and provide CO2. The only problem is, most of them don't have thermostats. You adjust the flame level and go from there. You'll contantly have to refill it, no fun there. I'd go electric if I had to add heat. Maybe provide some CFL lighting as a supplement and to add heat to the room. My closet tends to stay very warm in the winter just from having 2 4' flouro double light units hanging in there, on 24/7. If I turn the exhaust to the closet off, it hits 85 in there. So maybe adding supplemental light instead of a heater?

Yeah, Im just going to use the heat from the HPS when It comes on this weekend. Why make heat twice? Good point. Besides I only need to heat up a small area, not the entire floor. (as the space heater I have is for a very larger room and uses like 1700 watts which is not in my interest.

Not sure how you are set up but you still have 5x180W LED's so they are going to pump a fair bit of heat so just work on containing it, close the space off and maybe insulate. Heat rises so make sure you have something above your lights to trap the heat. I wouldn't mess with a kerosene heater. Major fire hazard plus in addition to co2 it gives off carbon monoxide and Sulphur Dioxide.
How do you have problems staying warm in Cali? We are going down to -28celcius tonite which is about -20fahrenheit. Try dealing with that

That 65 is great at keeping the HID grow rooms at perfect temps w/o an AC. However for this experiment I have to separate the LED from the other lights, so they are just out in the open air (it is actually 1 500w model, not 5 180w's, 4 240 watts is my goal by spring, right now Im just having fun with this 500w).
