I'm looking to upgrade the cheap Chinese LEDs in my 2x4 tent without breaking the bank does anybody have any suggestions?
Buy some COB's, lots of info in the LED section. You could use the same fixture and possibly the drivers and just install new COB's.
I also have a 2x4 that I'm putting LED into. I'm going with 3 quantum boards. If I were going with COBs, I would run at least 4.Thank you I'm also trying to figure out how many lights I will need for the tent and total watts
Awesome thank you so much I'm definitely going to take a look at thoseyou may want to consider these as well https://www.digikey.com/products/en/optoelectronics/led-lighting-cobs-engines-modules/111?k=&pkeyword=&pv46=42857&FV=ffecd831,fffc03d0&mnonly=0&newproducts=0&ColumnSort=0&page=1&quantity=0&ptm=0&fid=0&pageSize=25 less expensive than quantum boards and cobs with very uniform coverage.will work without heatsinks at drive currents up to 700ma 159-165 LPW ( 500-700 ma drive current)
Okay thank you so much there's so many different options LOLWithout any experience with that Platinum150 product, I cannot say. Search for it here, in the forums, and see if anyone else has used it. My guess, given the low watts and lack of detailed information (i.e. what specific brand/type of LEDs used in fixture) is that you would be better off spending less money and a little sweat equity into a DIY build. For a 2 x 4 area, you would probably need at least two of those fixtures (if not three).
You're welcome. I am relatively new to LED growing, though I am not new to growing in general. It has been a learning curve for me, but I think it is worthwhile and more cost effective to go the DIY route regardless of which option you choose. Just dig into the research. This is a great forum for it.Okay thank you so much there's so many different options LOL
