Hello riu community!!

Im 3 weeks into a grow using a 300w (135w) marshydro led. Its about a year old now and i have noticed the light is more of a white colour than a blurple, i had a look at the board and 4 blue chips are very dim compared to the others.

Will this light get me through the next upto 10 weeks?, will it still be able to pull me a few grams of smoke from my tent?

Researched everywhere but cand find a straight answer, the light is clearly on the way out and needs replacing but im stuck with it until my next grow :wall::cuss:

Any advice will be greatly appreciated

Idk why or even how the light would be appearing white are there any cobs on that light or only red and blue?
A picture would be helpful

That's a pretty bad light to begin with i wouldnt grow with it. I'm sure the light will get you through the grow if your just looking for a few grams. I'm kinda confused what you are asking you seem content with low yield are you worried it will totally fail?

White light from LEDs really comes from blue diodes coated in phosphor. Now you could get white light from having r/g/b diodes next to each other and controlling their output ratios to achieve white but I've only seen like one maybe two manufacturers that have spectrum control like that and mars ain't one of them lol

When it comes to electrical though always better to play the safe side. putting down the money for a new light or going without till you can is more favorable than a potential fire hazard.....

That being said. Myself would probably finish the grow and maybe add some cfls if possible to make up for the loss and get ready to bite the bullet on a new light

Sorry fo r the late reply, i have added a picture from google as i cant get to my tent at the moment.. 4 of the blue chips on the right of the light have dimmed compared to the rest. There isnt any cobs on it.. Im absolutely puzzled by this one. Had a couple of these lights before but nothing like this has happend.

Thanks for the reply, yield isnt a massive concern with this grow, just a few grams to keep me going. In the past this light has got me 1oz per plant so even know its a cheap led it done its job well. But yeahi was worried it woukd fail completely this time.. Used to have a 600w hps but times and circumstances have changed sadly.

Went like a bat out of hell to my tent location to get these pictures. In one you can see the 4 blue chips that are very dim compared to the others, in the tent shot it does still seem a bit purple but to the naked eye thelight is looking white. Do you think it will scrape Long for the rest of the grow?... Already started putting up cfl's. Been a very long time since i was hanging cfl's lol :dunce:

If you can afford to spend 150-200 get yourself a quantum board you won't be disappointed. Or if you can diy put together a 150w strip build with Samsung or bridgelux diodes diy should cost 100 or less

Thanks, i will be upgrading all equipment next grow so i will keep the recommendations in mind, cant make/buy a new one right now because of a lovely big gift my wife brought herself (cant say any more about that), so am strapped for cash for a few weeks.. But i will get there in the end :bigjoint:, i've got my fingers crossed this light will last until the end of tge grow. What i will have at the end of it and if it is a placebo effect is another story lol bongsmilie:spew:

less blue will make it look more pink giving off an illusion of more white light, thanks to our eyes being more sensitive in the middle of the color temp kelvin scale vs the top of it.

I am currently using an addition of some phospher free led's and regardless of having more overall light, it does not look as bright as without them.

I have a couple of the original Mars 300's like yours. Some of the lens covers over a few diodes have clouded, perhaps that's what you're getting on your light. A single 300 will cover one small plant but it can grow a small amount of good smoke.

The shitty plastic mono lens on them always darken , then burn. The IR diodes are usually the first to go. For a year of age , shouldn’t be a surprise ESPECIALLY on their older ( white box classic )

Oh, man. You can use the old mars 300 for more than one year. It is amazing.
I meet some problems when i use it for three months. I repaired it for once. Then i tossed it into trash can.
Right now, i am using their Pro II series. Although it is more expensive than Mars 300. But i like the performance.
I recommend you to try that model next time. it will not let you down.

Lol @ post above me. It will let you down. People have to use what they have to get by sometimes, that I get, but please dont go pushing/recommending those cheap Amazon lights to anyone on purpose.

Spend the new money (wisely) on something that isn't inefficient amongst other things if you wanna go led and go with a qb, cob, or strip build. If that's too pricey, 315w cmh does great with a touch more heat until you get some money together, around 200 bones give or take some dollars. Can run 3100k veg and flower.

Getting an O a plant is good with that tiny little light I'd imagine and experience is never a bad thing. Could use the mars to pop some beans or for clones until it dies in the future but thats kinda about the limit to that little lights use, imo.

Grab a few led house bulbs they would work a little better than cfl

I avoid blurple shit all together , have used a kind LED once in the past and it was a shit for the price , if your only after a few grams just chuck them under the sun and save $$$ on power
