LED that markets it's actual wattage draw?

Someone posted a link to this BAVAGREEN 240W Full Spectrum LED Plant Grow Light. I'm an HID guy, and honestly know nothing about grow LED technology, but it is something on my roadmap to investigate.

I took a look at the product out of curiosity and was shocked to find that it's marketed as a 240W unit which actually draws 240W. I've only ever seen them advertised as 600W but draw 60 for example.

Can you LED folk let me know if the light is actually of any real quality? Is it worth the money? Couple of component manufacturers names in the listing that I've seen called decent in threads on the site (Meanwell, Samsung) so I'm thinking they're at least trying.

They also claim that it's equivalent to a 500W HPS. Does that hold water?

Light apparently uses an efficient meanwell driver . Those are quantum board knockoffs that apparently some growers like.
However this guy , is reselling them from Alibaba.com. They have them thru the website at lower cost.

There is some unique offerings there , like switchable uv , color channels , sliding racks , etc.
But it’s all mainland China , so returns can be pricey or warranty issues. Bava is on alibaba .
Sometimes there’s issues with QC on led bins ( voltage matching , actual bins offered , etc. )

RIU has a whole thread on “ Chinese knockoff qb “ .... there words not mine ... lol.

You were shocked that a LED company actually told the truth?

At least they told the truth about their power draw. Don't believe the bullshit about it replacing a "500W HPS" – I've never seen a 500W HPS, have you?

A decent LED fixture will replace a HID with about 2/3 the power at current LED efficiencies. So generally speaking – because not all LEDs are equal – you need about 350-400W of LED to replace a 600W HPS.

What they said, and to add to that, 2/3 is a good rule of thumb when comparing like to like fixtures as far as quality goes. A top of the line LED system will replace a 400w HPS in a shit reflector with proportionally less wattage than if you're trying to replace a 1k DE with a well designed 98% reflector.
