Hi to all,

This is my first post so please be kind to me!! LOL... I will be trying my first grow in DIY wooden grow tent covered with Mylar reflective sheeting. I found these light on Ebay:

I decided to buy two of these but I do not know exactly how meters/foot square I should build the tent. How many plants will I be able to grow under these lights using SCROG method?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

It says the light covers 4sq meters or 43sq ft @240w...thats about 6w a sq ft...no way that light would cover that much area for canna. My guess would be 1-4 plants depending on size per light, but hard to know with how much led lights vary from one to another.

I knew it would not cover that much area. It sounded too good to be true but if I manage to grow at least 4/5 decent plants with reasonble yield, I would be very happy considering the price and low consumption.

Should I go for 2x2 or 3x3 grow tent??

Those are epistar LEDs, not the highest efficiency, but will grow just fine. They output about 105lm/w and only run at about 50% of the max watts per LED. So in reality they are 135w each or so.

135 x 2 = 270w total.
270*105 = 28,350 lumens

You need a minimum of 5000lm per square foot, with 7500 being my preferred target.

5.67 Square feet max, 3.78 sqft preferred.

I have a number of DIY panels that use the same type of LEDs. I would recommend you return/cancel those if you intended to bloom with them. (I use mine for starting plants, vegi and canna)

Only LEDs I would consider are Vero and Cree. Look for an LED that can produce 160lm/w or greater, anything less and you might as well just use HPS (HPS 600w gets 145-155lm/w).
