LED or HID 2x4 TENT

I was leaning toward a timber 3vl 3500k for my 2x4, rdwc -2 plants, but now i read in posts it costs half as much to purchase a 400 or 600w mh/hps setup and ill get better results . i guess my question is the 3vl my best option for this size , and i like that its full spectrum and not so much heat as HID , or just go old school and get the mh/hps . I'm strongly leaning towards the timber cause i heard they are great quality, but I'm concerned ill have to buy supplemental lighting in different color spectrums , when i begin to flower, which wouldnt be a problem if it will give better results (big fat dense buds.. lol)

I don't have any experience with either of those lights but you can't just factor in the up front cost of the equipment. The MH/HPS setup will cost you more in the long run in electricity, because you will need to pull more watts with them and the heat they generate will need to be dealt with. You also need to factor in the cost of bulbs. MH and HPS bulbs are only effective for a set number of hours and then need to be replaced (basically every year).

i understand, i guess id rather have the less heat and more up front cost, just seems safer to leave unattended in my home.

I did a few runs in a 2x4 with both LED's and HID. First, either way you go, read about VPD and live by it. Second, big fat dense buds wont be created by just light; need good genetics and proper environment then let them do the rest.

HID is better if you can control the temps/humidity, IMO

LED's is better if ambient heat is an issue, IMO

its gonna be in a 15x16 room iin the basement, stays about 60 deg. in the room ,i thought if i watched the temp and humidity i should be ok?

60 degrees room temp is fine, you can run HID there easily, if anything you may need a small heater for the night time, 60iis on the chilly side when lights off. you can exhaust the hot air out, right?

yea i can get the heat out , im just not that crazy about having that hot ass light going when im not home, imsure it will be fine, just makes me nervous.
