Im looking at a box, 1.8 metres high, 0.7 metres wide and 0.6 metres deep. Cost not really a problem but want to try and keep it realistic so about £100 - £250 and heat may be a problem as its in my bedroom and can get pretty hot in here with the windows closed ect.

You would probably want something a little bigger than a 90w LED for a space like that. I recommend the 120-250w panels. That's probably the highest wattage with lowest heat production you can get given the dimentions. HPS would be like a mini-heater in your room all the time if you can't ventilate, so LED would probably be the way to go. Initial cost will run you a lot more with LED, however. 250w on Ebay are around $300 US.

Not sure. I've only really used LED and HPS. I've messed with a little CFL, but never by itself.

Start a thread in the CFL sub-forum or read around there a bit.

LED's are the way to go for sure. Check out my grow in my signature. I am a LED wholesaler, so talk to me before you buy anything! I'll hook it up with better systems than you're going to be buying on eBay...

Here is a video I made about the LEDs and heat in the grow room.

This a bit out of your price range but does appear to be a great unit from a trusted brand.

this one is 200 eur but only a 120 watt.. They say its comparable to a 400 watt hid.. So that may be the best for your space.. Hope that helps...btw htg is a good company it have an hps ballast from them that is pretty ancient. Shes running my grow right now too.

Those are old units. That design is from 2006... not bashing HTG but those lights are shit. I have models using the brand new LED diode technology (this year) for less than that shipped. $550 shipped to the USA for 300w panel. 7:1:1 Red-Blue-Orange covering wavelengths from 625nm to 715nm. The ONLY units to use "Mixed Spectrum Diodes."

Those are no-name branded units. Just like mine... They get them from China, just like me. The difference is they triple their money buy selling them to you guys, I do not. lol. Pay $200 more for an older LED system, or I can hook you up with shit that will work to your expectations.
Htgsupply.com has some in your price range. And it's w good brand.

Exactly, so why would you pay $650 plus shipping for an old ass LED system that was designed in 2006? When you can get the new tech for less?! I will put $$ on my units out performing anything HTG sells... I have put a few years of research and trial and error into my designs. Nobody else sells the lights I have....hands down.

There are videos online of the solid state getting wrecked on by 1w diodes...its a good design and idea, just not quite on par.
