Led light

I bought a king led 3000w light and I am trying to find out what the comparison is to. Like is it too much. I currently have about a 5 1/2x5 1/2 room.

I ask only because most blurple lighting is very much overstated on wattage, and we need to know actual draw to see if it has enough power for a 5 1/2 foot? Square area....

I tried to look on the website but I really can’t find anything about the draw from the wall. I have the light currently like 18 inches above plants. But now that you say that with the space I think I have too many plants. I have 8 in there and was planning on buying another light fairly soon.

I hear it pulls 615w , it should cover 3.5 x 3.5ft but due to its oblong shape probably 3x4 would be better

Is that normal coverage for that size light? Or should I look into a different brand

Should I buy another light. Is that brand good ? Lol I’m sorry for all the questions.
Its a generic light made in china and rebranded (like most LEDs)

The problem with any actively cooled lights is more parts to fail and if the fans stop working the light will burn out fast, nobody can tell you how long it will last, some might last a few years, others might last a single grow.
Anything made for cheap for max profit is the same.

Here's one of the sales points they use in the description
* Energy saving: Compares to traditional 3000 watt HPS/MH lamp while consuming only 615watt,save more electricity for you

Unfortunately the only true part of that sentence is "consumes 615w" its probably more likely to compare to a 600w hps set up but with poorer coverage due to the shape.

If you want to light up your whole space then yes you will need more light. You want 50w per square foot of actual real power consumption.
The 3000w title they use to lure in unsuspecting consumers to make it sound more powerful, they get to that figure because they use for example 300 x 10w diodes, but they don't power the diodes at 10w each because it would burn out fast.

You have a few options the way I see it, use that light for veg, since it will cover more area because plants need less light to veg (raise it up a bit)
Buy a better light for flower, either a 1000w hps , which is still a bit under powered for 5.5 x 5.5ft but I assume you want to be able to get in there and have room to move, or 4x 315cmh would light it up well, or buy a good LED, lumatek zeus pro would be good, or timber grow lights or horticultural lighting group. Just to name a few. The issue your going to have there is the price!

The other option would be to buy more cheap LEDs, but by the time you add up the total cost and look at the total wattage your still going to be spending a chunk of cash and may end up using more power than you otherwise would with a HPS or a high end LED.

If you go with LED then look around the LED section, see what most of us are using. Though a lot of us build our own these days to get maximum efficiency for less money.

i really appreciate it. I’m going to look in to the other lights forsure. Kinda new at all this so all of it helps. There is so much on the market right now especially not knowing too much about anything it seems like it’s pretty easy to get swindled lol.

It is indeed, hence my advice is stick with a reputable manufacturer...I love Timber cobs myself, along with some sp models of Mars , and sf from SpiderFarmer. Yeah, I know blah blah blah Mars...they are working great for me.

No worries.
The LED market is still unfortunately a minefield and the decades of misinformation and sly tactics from manufacturers gives them a bad rep.

There's a dude called MIGRO on youtube who as well as having his own company does fair comparisons of the best LEDs, gives you an idea of how good or bad things are.

End of the day , work within your financial boundaries to make sure you get the most out of your space you can and the highest quality buds. Too many people dismiss HPS when they are new, which is a major error. Use whatever fits your space and budget.

To be honest Mars is one I’ve heard a lot about . I just hear people say led is the way to go. But I’m gonna mess around on here a lot and see what’s best.
