What is the best grow light when it comes to PPFD output and the overall potential yields from these types of lights.

I ask because me and a friend are having an argument about which produces a better yield.

So far the information i have is this:
MH TSW 2000
PPFD @ 18" is 910
It does not have actual UV diodes, just IR
twice as cheap and is a Chinese company
Even light distribution
$269.99 on amazon

KIND LED XL450
UV AND IR Led Diodes
PPFD @ 18" is 579
double the price
495.00 on amazon

I've read about grow lights but not extensively and i also know it comes down to the other elements when growing: Plant Genetics ,nutes, soil, mistakes, pests, proper control of the environment, and veg time. At this moment i am just basing it on Lights alone because i already have complete control of everything and i pay very close attention to everything i give my plants.

SOo if anyone have any experience with either of these light or even compare them to Spider farmer too please let me know. Right now I own a MH TS1000 but ive heard that won't give me the greatest yields due to lack of light power. Also please only soil growers respond to this post unless you have any experience growing in soil with these lights. I only say this because i know of the potential a DWC can yield.

My goal is at least 3-4oz per plant.

Mars hydro ... yes ( led strings failed ) .
Spider Farmer .... just finished review - led better than expected. Good led.
Kind - overpriced

Currently run HLG Quantums .... since 2015 , consistent performance.
Lurk thread ( DIY with Quantum Boards ) . I’m sure others will chime in on their choices.

how long did your Mars Hydro last for before it failed and were you able to warranty it?
Spider Farmer is a very good brand a bit more expensive then Mars but only because they use Samsung 301B LED Diodes
I have heard very good things about HLG but since i am just starting out i do not have money to put down on one of them right now. Out of curiosity which one do you use and how much yield do you get out of it?

Yield is from environment and other factors but any led white board is better than any blurple.
Other brand I tried was back in the day - vipar spectra. It grew weed but not as well as Samsung based boards / strips.
SF1000 V2 is a 100watts panel for about $160 each with dimmer control. HLG Rspec board kit is under $200 and is a solid light.

Try to stay away from Amazon “ reviews “ ... mostly bs

yea i agree with you on that. Amazon has alot of fake reveiws. you need to use a review filter to filter out fakes from real and then get the real Star review. and trust me i know the environment and everything else plays a part, but i am just only talking on the light's output for flowering. you don't think the Hood mars hydro provides with their light gives them a little better of an even light distribution or is it just a marketing scheme?

Hood helps “ footprint “ of light. Most offer a hammered finish . Your tent’s reflective surfaces would suffice.

SF board doesn’t need one ... here is the one they sent me to review. It’s a damn good starter led , and has IR .
Also look at last photo with power info on upper models. They can be daisy chained for expandability via jumper cable ( included ) thru channel ports making main light “ master “ with dimmer.

I like those connections on that SF over MH ts1000 - specifically that exposed jack on the side irks the shit out of me even though the light performs well. Not that I am rough on lights but the build quality is certainly better on the SF and I've heard their customer service isn't lacking like MH. I'll get one soon.

I have been looking at these vipar spectra xs2000s. They use the LM301b diodes and Meanwell drivers. I don’t need another light for a month or two, but these are tempting with the good components and price. The PAR chart is awesome at 18” over a 2x4 footprint.
