Olly2, The 8 lamp VHO is 2'x4'x3", weighs app. 35 lbs and will do 8- 3 gallon pots nicely. It draws 760 watts. The 740 watt LED is 34"x12"x 3" and will not do over 3 -3 gallon pots effectivly. The 4 bulb VHO will do 4 plants effectively and 1/2 the wattage of the 8 lamp. The best price out there is on Amazon and I have cheaked everywhere. The 8 lamp is very snug in most grow tents and a room is much better for it. I highly recomend the 8 lamp which comes with 6500k lamps. It really is much better than LED in my opinion and gives mh/hps a run for it's money. Great fixture.

ok then I think I've settled on my option then, thank you for all the information; if VHO saves enough money on electric bills they will be my choice. However I'm having a hard time finding them on ebay whenever I type in VHO T5 8 Bulb grow light, can you send me a link? I promise this will by last question!

VHO v HO is confusing. HO bulbs are all you need

Watts are watts, so 400 HOT5 watts are the same as 400 LED watts, BUT, 250-300 LED watts can outperform 400 HOT5 watts. (I use both and have observed this first hand)

thank you, I've been to a few stores today and got some first hand information about lights; I was told with strong conviction that LED and (V)HO lights are not suitable for a decent grow and that HID are best and especially for my level of grow (6-8 plants) with 600w, any opinions?

Most stores are neither mmj friendly, nor knowledgeable. Buyer beware!

Here's my 8 bulb HOT5 with 6 plants. ~ 5 days to harvest. You tell me

lol I'm from England, the people I met weren't rude or anything, and did provide a lot of information, however they did seem to overcharge quite a lot I noticed (basic grow tent kit was over £700), and didn't even entertain the idea LED or HO were applicable for a decent grow. Your grow looks very good, would you happen to have a link to a site selling the lights you have?

Me? I have 2 tents, one is Quantum Bad Boy HOT5 (using a variety of aquarium bulbs from late veg-harvest) the other tent is a basic ufo 90 ed + my own DIY for supplementing. If you scroll through my thread you will get answers to questions you haven't even thought of yet

240w & 432w HTG supply 7-band. Don't but the 240w if you look into them, the LEDs are spaced further apart and doesn't have as good of a mix because of it. I have yielded 5oz off a Trainwreck under the 432w with a 150w hps for some "side" lighting. That's just currently the most i have yielded so i'm sure i can yield more. The light seems to discolor leaves if too close, this LostCoastOG in the pics was so tall it had to be that close. Think i yielded around 3oz off this LCOG. Very dese nugs, filled with aroma and trichomes. I'm have been smoking on it for the past week now (harvested 3wks ago) my girlfriend says it's her favorite so far and she barely need to smoke any before she's ripped. I personally think it's close to the best i've harvested in terms of taste and high, but my 5oz trainwreck went a full 12wks into flower and the high was very very powerful, i usually don't go past 10wks due to other plants need to go into the flower room at that time. It's been fun experimenting with the LED but i'm just not ever expecting huge yields is all.
