leaves folding and twisting!

the problem i've been having for avout a week now is the leaves are folded down like a taco and twisting like a twizzler. temps were in the mid 90's. now for 3 days they have been in the low to mid 80's. there are 6 23w cfl's on it. plant is about 6in tall w 6-7 sets of leaves. leaves are nice and green, no browning at all. i use tap water set out vinting. there is a fan blowing on it. it hasn't grown much since the problem started. so would this be caused from the heat, not enough light, not enough water, or all the above. any thoughts will be greatly appeciated. thnx

Heat has made my plants grow all sorts of twisty curly-Q kind of leaves before. After some ventilation improvements, my temps got down to mid seventies and the plants got better right away.

so from a little more research i have done. i have come to the conclusion with the symtoms that i have, it is do to heat stress and underwatering. this will both cause the cupping of the leaves. since temps are down and watered more than i have been signs of improvement are present. thnx all

I think what is important is exactly what kind of twisting and curling we are talking about. If you have normally formed leaves that are beginning to twist up, it is a nute problem. If the leaves GROW deformed and twisty then it is heat. Look at my scraggly clone. See how leaves are actually growing twisted and curly? That is from the heat. Believe it or not this scraggly clone turned into to a beauty, along with all of its scraggly siblings. So just keep the temps down and you'll be fine.

thnx for that great info mared. it is old and new leaves. they are cupped downwards and twisting. looks like a normal plant other than that. i read on the faq that it is like grass, high heat no moistue they fold up. the plant was doing better for a fews days after watering. the pot is kinda heavy so not gonna water again. temps are staying between 75º-85º. now the plant is about 5-6 weeks old and only 6in tall, 8 nodes. some of the bottom leaves have died and fell off from passed problems. do to all of this, growth stopped for 3 weeks combined. now for the nute problem you were talking about. do i need to give them nutes? there were some in the soil. when i transplanted, i used nuteless soil. been about 4 weeks since transplant. any other thoughts or ? would be appreciated. thnx

it`s your watering schedule. itis throwing your ph off, next you will see disscolouration on the larger leaves. like a liter yellowy green.

I think i have the same problem as my friend here. I´m growing a Jack Herer and it used to be nice and pretty but suddenly the big leaves started closing from the edges downward and other leaves curled up in al sorts of ways.

Usually strains like Jack Herer will be just harder to grow. You have to watch the temps, watch the nutes, and look carefully at the pH of the water. Jack Herer and strains of it's quality usually aren't quite as hardy as more indica hybrids and indica strains.

yeah i had this problem from heat also my grow room got up in to 100+ with my new light i got in there all cfls too lol but now the highest it gets is 87 with jus a fan sucking air from my bedroom thru a dryer vent tube pointed at my hood in ur case its prolly jus a ventilation problem most people have passive( no fan) intakes and a fan exhaust remember heat rises so put ur exhaust up top

i think you can see my vent tube and exhaust vent in this pic

the bottom right is the intake and the middle in the background is the exhaust ( when the house ac unit comes on it sucks air out of the grow room and the the vent tube fan is only with the lights on

over ferting as you say doesn't cause leaf curl! and twist.. it causes nute burn silly!
lol yeah i get where i look over over fert posts jus about any problem that gets posted on here gets bout fifty post that says too many nute or nutes man give her nutes

leaf curling is from heat , lack of light, humidity troubles , even some times watering out of wack
