Learning to clone.....

Well I guess its time for me to learn how to clone. Yes, long past due, been growing for years and years, but always from seed.
I am sure it will not be a big deal. Pretty much have the basics figured out. What I would like to ask the RIU community is this:
I have Red Deisel, Kushberry, Skunk #1, Super Skunk and PPP femmed seeds. Also Northernlights and Papaya regular seeds. I would like to start a couple different mother plants. Which 2 or 3 of these would you say are kind to cloning? The top 3 you all pick will become my next grow. I appreciate your time and input. Thanks:leaf:
 
Pick your favorite strians with the traits that you most enjoy. I'd use the Skunk #1 for sure, but in the end it comes down to what you enjoy growing/smoking the most.

I am burned out on White Widow. Dont get me wrong, great smoke. Just had enough for now. I wish I would have saved a Red Dragon seed or two. Have two in flower now and very impressed. Really does smell like guava! Rock hard, I mean ROCK HARD!!!! buds at 30 days. Probaly will try and reveg one after harvest.
 
Bump. Anyone have any experience cloning Red Deisel or Kushberry? Its not so much about the strain for me. More interested in their cloning abilities for a newbie at cloning. I am sure the NL clones well from what I have read. The Papaya also. And I know seasoned cloners could clone any of them. Guess I am just looking for the best ones to start with.

Northern Lights heavy yeilder.
Skunk #1 heavy yeilder

Diesel, Monster plant.
PPP not impressed

My choice Super Skunk, Diesel, Kushberry

Hey man, you might just have to dive in and snip a couple from each, keep track of what's what and basically survival of the fittest. Keep the ones that do well and get rid of the ones that don't. Also go to the FAQ section for info on actual cloning process. Go for it homie!

Thanks Ganja, the 3 I was leaning towards. I have grown all but the kush and deisel in soil. And the PPP was less than impressive in yield, but a different sort of high. Real couchlock for me. Have some thats been in a jar for like 3 months. Get it out when I am ready for bed! Bet thats the 3 I will go with. Anyone else?

Your right Cap. Just want to keep things within my med guidelines. I can have 12 plants. So I figure with 3 moms I should be able to keep the flower room with 4 -6 at varies stages. And again, your right, I am just gonna dive in. I know how too grow!!!! lol Thanks....

I am growing some NewYork Special. It's grows very tall and I am very impressed with it. But I am fiming or topping the clones from her. The height is TALL and over welming.
 
Look up the air layering method of cloning it's easy as hell and works on even the most difficult to clone plants.

Start there and you can clone the plants you want rather than just the ones that are easy.

I take it even in veg the D will need some serious topping to keep the height under control? I have 8 feet to work with but prefer to keep the moms at 4 foot or so. Sure it is doable and looking forward to the challenge and learning experience. I will probaly yank your chain from time to time at first for a bit of advice if you dont mind. I have been checking your grows, impressed. And I think you are the Ganja that repped my Papayas. Big plants make big colas, but I want to scale it down a bit and get a more even flow in my harvest. My needs are meager and just want to streamline a bit. I have grown plenty of big plants in pots. Time to venture out. Thanks again for your help and input.:weed:

Thanks Meds, I will check that out. On a sidenote. Your sarcastic post on pissing in the res was priceless dude!!!!! I still chuckle when that thread pops up. Well said and done my friend!:clap:

Even in veg, holy cow!!! Beware. But such a lovely plant to grow. You can look through my album at Diesel and see how fast she grows.
Yeah I'm around from time to time, just ask and I will give my advice/opinon.

The lineup is set. Red Deisel, Kushberry and Super Skunk. And a few pics of the 2 Barneys Red Dragons. If you have not grown these I suggest you do. Very hardy, sweet, sweet, sweet, smooth tasting and after a proper cure. Full throttle chronic. Stoned for hours. If I cannot reveg one of these will def get more of these seeds. Red Dragon, Hmmmmm. Keep me posted on when you fire up a journal, I will be your subscriber.
 
Guess if I am going to clone I should learn hydro. I put together a homemade ebb and flow with things I have aquired and have lying around.
20 gal. tote
small pump
black pan (about 24x24)
misc. fittings and plastic hose
1 gal. nursery pots
hydroton (bought this)
peat starters
nutes and rain water
9 days in things are going ok. Deisel Ryders, short grow and figure its a good place to start the dro. 500 ppm dark energy, liquid karma, superthrive and cal-mag. and a touch of FF grow big. 1/4 or less doses of each. Using 6 gals. in the res now. Feeding 3 times a day. PH 5.7 to 6, having to adjust down every other day. Creeps up to 6.3
Kinda liking this. Going to start my moms this weekend. Stay tuned.....:arrow:
