late flowering. Trichromes not going amber. leaves dying. buds ok otherwise.

Hi I have a pretty DIY, low cost/maintenance set up that has worked pretty well for me for a few years. I use CFs and Soil.

This time around everything's been going pretty peachy, but now towards the end of my flowering cycle, i've noticed that fan leaves and bud leaves are beginning to die and go brown. it's spotty around the plant and doesn't seem to be normal nitrogen consumption. I've also noticed that the trichromes aren't making their final push to amber. The plants have been flowering for close to 3 months but the buds have been hearty for the last month with no or very little change in trichrome color. they are stuck somewhere between clear and milky. the only thing that i've found based on pics in forums is a possible pH problem (i admit this isn't a factor i deal with much in my lite setup) or possible calcium deficiency. I began flushing the plant over a month ago so i can see it being a nute burn. othe than that the buds seem to be hanging on, just not maturing any more.

Any help greatly appreciated.

cut it down then because alot of plants dont have amber trichs
I might be wrong but i think the trichs turning amber happens with all plants not just certain strains i always read it just part of the cycle at the end of flowering because if you wait to long the thc starts to break down and u loose some of buds potency u see it in the trichomes. Im not saying your wrong if i am please let me know because thats how i tell when to harvest.

well have u found the prob yet??? im growing the same way with cfls my plant has been budding 4 3 months and the trics are clear to milky to i was gonna cut it asap but maybe u can help

well, this was the first i've heard of some trichs not going amber. not saying it's wrong. i just don't know.

i'll probably let them go a little longer and if i don't see any change in the trichs i'll just cut it.

Any other causes of this stunting maturation that anyone knows about?

Hey guys, interesting thread. i got the same problem. i had 2 jack hearers from seed. probably spent 4 months germinating and veging. Took one cutting off the best of the 2 and thats been in bud for about 4 weeks. anyway, of those 2 jh's ive cropped one with a wonderful 14oz dry weight bounty. I dont think iv done much else but smoke for a month. just lost job + crop = high times so its all good, However my other jh is now about 3mnth 3 week (maybe a little more) and also not changing trichome colour (even under mag) nor have my hairs started going red/brown. ive thought the same as you guys, leave for a bit longer and see but to be honest nothing has happened. be nice to see if anyones got an answer for this one but all i can say is ive waited that bit longer with no joys guys so really its up to you. id always wait a little longer. up to 3 n half months is possible. also (just thought) if you've stressed your plant at all in flower cycle that may set the plant back anywhere from a few days up to a week each time ya stress (lighting, nute, water, heat stresses) which will all add days onto your grow. Might chop mine and make hash.

How long does it normally take for the plant to mature when you see the first hair turning brown? I need a microscope for the trichs!!
