Large Plant Techniques Indoors

Does anyone have commercial growing experience with large plants indoors? We're a collective commited to less than 99 plants, but seeking big yields.

We have a 20 light warehouse (8 veg. and 12 flower...all 1000). Here's what we're doing currently: 20 gallon pots, 4 weeks of veg, topping 3 times, attaching 30"x30" screen above each plant, and basically treating each plant as a SCROG. The plants end up about 36"x36" and 2-3 feet tall. They yield about 6-8 oz each, which is under 1oz/sq foot.

While the yield is OK, I'm wondering if anyone has tried different techniques. We have plenty of light (55watt/sq ft), sealed room, CO2, etc....

Has anyone tried growing the plants un-topped 6+ feet tall with bare bulb side lighting?

How about major bending?

I'd like to see around 1.5 oz/sq foot, or more.

I'm hoping with more and more concern with plant numbers this will be a hot topic. While I would always prefer SOG, it's not good for us legally.

Thanks in advance for any advise or shared experience.

Gypsy,

Thank you very much for the links. It'll take me some time to read through Blaze's threads...but what fun!

Your tree looks great, man.

Anyone else doing some big ones on a commercial scale???

Personally i use ebb and grow with 60% sativa 40% ind. We use three 1k hps for flower.10 week strain does real nice in 5 gallon pots with grodan watsr absorbent, like insulation the sound proofing kind. On 10 plants with total time almost four months start to finish( i use floresents for veg) easily was 6 pounds but that was before i fully used the g.h. keep it simple schedule. Im about to harvest witheverything on par with co2 so ill let ya know how we do in 2 weeks.

Sounds like what you've got is pretty good already. Why not veg for 2 more weeks, then trim low branches from the colas that grow out of the scrog? Kind of like a lollipop. The bigger structure would give you bigger colas in the scrog and you would use more vertical space and not much, if any more horizontal space.

Or, start with a bigger screen like 6 inches. Fill the screen out and let them veg for a looong time. Let each cola grow 2-3 feet out of the screen. You're talking about 6 feet single cola plants, but you could have 16 huge colas per 3 square foot screen. Just lollipop them so it does't get super crowded and you could let them get to be 4 foot each.
