Large Gaps in bud spacing.

Hey I have a plant of S.A.D S1 that has large spacing between the buds. Even on the main cola and it's seeming like it's going to be a low yield because of it. Am I doing something wrong here? Or could it just be genetics? Tomorrow makes week 6 after flipping to 12/12. I have other plants where my colas are densely together.

I'm growing in Soil FFOF with all FF Nutes.

Kool thanks. I wanna just grow genetics that have fat colas. Guess I'll have to research
What ? No what Im saying unless the strain is IBL .. and showing like 4 phenos from seed thats not gong to be possible .. when you pop seeds .. its like your parents having kids .. they have 7 kids .. 5 out of 7 might have black hair .. 2 will have brown .. thats just how it goes .. you want big colas and yield is all you care about ? then find the one you want and clone it.

Understood. Thanks

Give it time. That could very well fill out. I've had plants looking like that that ended up going on a growth spurt and really filling in. That plant has a long way to go before being ready. Five maybe six weeks. That's just a selfed Black Domina. I've grown Black Domina before it turned out pretty good.

I prefer plants that grow like they it lowers the chance of bud rot. It's mostly genetics but you can force tighter node spacing I have 8 plants of the same strain right now I defoliated 1 like 10 days earlier than the others the buds are way more stacked I also just lost 1 main cola to bud rot on the more stacked plant. My highest yielding grow grew buds really far apart but the plants also got super tall so there was a deeper canopy

What light do you use to veg with?

It’s all genetics. On ogs I’m pretty sure that spacing is a pretty common trait. But it’s not necessarily a bad thing. Airflow is always good . Huge thick buds aren’t always the best. I grew a four pound plant under a 1000 watt hps and it would have been a lot more if it wasn’t so frikkin packed in. Some of the buds were so big we nicknamed one the torso. Lol. Airflow is good.

Yeah, all my OG gals are like that, they like to space their nodes pretty far a part, but I find that awesome cause that usually means that I don't have to spend really any time tucking leaves out of the way so those buds can get some direct light, and I don't care how far down you go on a branch them little buds swell up big time, (happy me), cause the wide spacing that is a true OG trait naturally gives each of those buds direct light access!

Bud Spacing is genetic. I'm outdoors, and my rainy season and flower season overlap. Those tight packed strains are just magnets for rot.
