Large bushy plants question

I have a few in veg that and they are very thick and bushy whereas practically no
sunlight at all gets
inside the plants and it is very dark and somewhat
spindly inside of them so I was wondering
if tying the branches down some spreading the branches out so
the inside of the plants gets a lot of sunlight would be a good thing for the
overall health and growth of the plants? Is this a good idea or not?
Thank's for your help!

That is a common technique called LST or low stress training. essentially you tie down the branches to make a single level canopy. Also look up SCROG. Very good technique to get the most of your plant. Good Luck Mil

you can squish the stem use your finger and the side of a lighter and squeeze it a bit you will feel it kinda give way use a softer part of the plant..

like this..
original super crop date 6-19-13

taken 7-5-13

this is a pic from 2012 with the same planter.. (diff strain but you can see she was about 5+

super cropping lst and scog are my only style this year testing yield to last year

Let the outside keep going and trim up the inside to increase air flow. Buy cutting out the inside, the outside stems should thicken up a bit too.

I've seen this too. The inside of the bush hollows itself out from lack of light. All those little branches in there that will never make it out need to go. They won't make much and will just take up space from the outer tops.

gioua, do you live in a state where its legal to grow????? That's insane how you have those growing outdoors without a greenhouse or anything. I wish I could do that w/o fearing the cops coming to my house to steal my crops and arrest me.

What size pots are those? If I can get a good yield out of my 7 gallon pot, I might not try to transplant it. Got a huge one in a 7 gallon. I want to put it in the ground, but I.m afraid I'll muck it up. Never transplanted from anything bigger than a 5 gallon. And it was a pain in the ass. Thanks

that's a lot of pot
Sadly it is not enuf for the full year for me.. I use a lot of medible for my pain (22 year user of rx's and now 100% only on MJ) 1 year no pills as of 6-16-13!

The size container is not always a factor in how large a plant will get..
the 2nd (far right is shown here in better scale.. this carmel will only get about 3-4 foot max (strain)
I'd say each container was less then 12-15 gal

here is the 1st container when the above bubba was just a wee lil lass..

@bucky.. you cant do much harm with these plants.. unless you are just being ruthless.. I just transplanted my revegged bubba kush to my scrog net.. abused the crap outta her all in one day.. trimmed her transplanted her lst'd her..

@ medincineforpatients...I live in Cen Valley Ca.. 100% legal have a dr request for 55 plants I have less then 12 adhering to the local co laws as well.. I try not to worry about the plants getting ripped off.. even the pro's have that happen..

my grows cost less then $500 each year incl dr referal.. so you can be a CHEAP good grower too.. (no pesticides used either.. I am fortunate to be disabled and stay home to keep the pests at bay)

so you guys pluck the inner leaves ?
to a degree. it's more removal of the sucker/junk branches/leaves... I like to push the energy from the growth to the top colla's taking from the lower useless pop corny stuff forces it back to the top

thru-out veg I just pull leaves so the inside gets light thru-out n try to push the branches inside to the outside, a lot of people would say otherwise but it has worked for me, people say it stunts the plant well u tell that too my 6 foot + plants LOL I make sure theres light all the way down to the bottom for my girls, I had one yr we let it be n grew into a monster but heres the thing since we didn't remove any leaves it blocked the light in the inside, so guess what happened? everything DIED in the inside and the bud it did try to make in the inside was nothing but pistils and never formed bud, I strongly believe myself that light to just more then the fan leaves, it must be light to the bud itself, just my opinon from experience not reading journals etc...

pluck those leaves. Pull out all of the excess leaves to encourage growth in the areas that you want. That is what pruning is all about

So should I leave in the 7 gallon container, or should I try to put it in the ground? What would you do? Wish it was a 15 gallon like yours.

More room to grow. Move her. I used cat litter containers my first year, got the large 25 gal tubs for $5.00 at walmart check out my first year grow from my profile photo thing here. I am cheap when it comes to growing less i spend happier I am

Im afraid to take it out of the bucket. Never transplanted out of anything this big. I might try to cut the bottom off, but I gotta wait until the soil dries out. Been raining like a mf. If it wasn't my best plant I wouldn't be so scared. lol. I only have 5 total, and this one is thriving. Thanks. Ever transplanted out of a 7 gallon container? If so, how difficult was it? Howd you do it? No partner to help me btw.

I wouldn't be worried about upgrading her. She seems to be ready. I would water with superthrive right after transplant. If you can afford White Widow ($20) I sprinkle that on every hole before transplanting and its worth every penny. Just my 2c.
