Man that is a dense ass cake!!! I'm gonna call today, you said they were based out of canada right, so no thanksgiving there!! Hopefully I can get this shit underway!!

Damn cus its definitely thanksgiving in texas! :( I just checked and still no email today! It really shouldn't take 3 days even with out the extra shipping if they are in Texas! Man...:(

Call him up tomorrow and tell him you wouldnt of paid extra for shipping if you would of known it was going to take so long. Then say...would you throw in a cube syringe for my troubles! Hell, he matches a free 1 with every order, I dont see why he wouldnt!

Well, I dunked the cake(submurged in water) for 24 hrs, now its time to roll it in dry verm. This just helps to retain moisture. After I roll in verm, I set in the FC on the jar seal for about 10 min...then mist the cake a little(trying not to spray the verm off)

ah dude that casing is crazy, myc already coming through...i cant wait to see this

quick question, how often do you change out the perlite?
mine is pretty discolored from spores

When it starts to look like mine...lol Mine is full of verm, and spores out the ass. As soon as you see greenmold on anything in the FC...its time. I have been using the same perlite for about 6 months. I have just been lucky and havnt had any contams. I usually spray down the fc in between harvests with peroxide diluted with wated. After I harvest, I am puttin in new perlite.

So the perlite is just to keep the moisture in the chamber right, I've been debating on exaxtly how I want to do my FC. I've been considering using trays and putting them into a chamber with perlite on the bottom, but I don't know. I just havn't found any all clear tubs the size I'm looking for. I gotta check Walmart again, but I wasn't going there today it was insane. I don't need them for a couple weeks any ways. So I'm about to start simmering! I'll keep my thread updated with pics through out the day!

When I started I didnt use perlite, I just used the tubs to pour the wbs right in...and just mist the sides for humidity. Now, I use perlite!! Its so much easier, and when they are done just take out the trays, and put new ones in.(I never wash out my trays when Im done, I pitch and get new ones!) If you use perlite, just put about 3in in the bottom, and keep moist.

Will I still have to mist the sides daily, or does this lower it to an as needed thing? I think I might go ahead and do this. I'll get 4 clear tubs for my FC, and then use the aluminum trays to case in. Also if I had an incubator full of jars and needed to incubate one of these trays, would it hurt anything to just put it in on top of the jars?

With perlite, I just mist the 4 side walls, and the perlite every other day. As for the trays, you can set them on top of the jars...thats usually what I do if its full of jars.

Man...you are gonna shit when you see the tray in the FC...its gonna have a nice pin set! I will post a pic at midnight!!

I sure hope mine reacts as well! Its only been what 2 days. So now after I've spent a couple hours getting the WBS ready to PC. What are the advantages of WBS vs Rye? Cost and availability? It seems like rye is much simpler to prep, Just curious.

When using rye, you have to use calcium(crushed oyster shells) and it sucks beating the shells to dust with a hammer...lol I had to get the rye at a co-op, and the oyster shells at a farm supply co. Its just way too much trouble!! WBS has all the nutes mushrooms neet to grow! Why grow with anything else, when wbs is so simple?
