A Kingwood teenager arrested for digging up the grave of 11-year-old Willie Sims at Humble’s Negro Cemetery in May pleaded guilty to abuse of a corpse Aug. 25 and was sentenced to 240 days in jail.

According to officials at the 12th Harris County Criminal Court, Kevin Wade Jones, 17, who has spent more than three months in Harris County Jail already since he was booked May 8, will likely serve 10 more days in jail on the misdemeanor charge.

“It’s two for one,” said a court clerk who did not identify herself. “He was sentenced to 240 days in jail and was credited half that. That leaves 10 days to serve. This case is over.”

Although Jones will soon have served his punishment in the case of desecrating Sims’ grave, who died in 1921, and using his skull to smoke marijuana, he won’t go home anytime soon. During the course of the Negro Cemetery investigation, authorities also charged Jones with credit card abuse, a felony.

Court records show that on Aug. 13, Jones pleaded guilty to the charge in the 230th District Court and was sentenced to six months in prison.

One of Jones’ accomplices on the night of the grave digging was Matthew Richard Gonzalez, 18, who pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor theft he committed in April upon his May 7 arrest. He, too, faces a misdemeanor charge of abuse of a corpse and is scheduled to appear in court Sept. 4 after being released on bond.

Authorities are not releasing information on a third person, a male juvenile, arrested in connection with the skull-bong incident.

You know, my dad used to dig old bottles...once, he and my mom, his brother and his brother's wife were out digging and came upon an abandoned, unmarked grave site. They accidentally dug the skull up.the teeth were bleached white. My aunt wanted very badly to take the teeth and make a necklace. She, for the record, did NOT smoke pot. ;-)

isn't that a lot like that nazi who ran some concentration camp back during ww2 he and his wife would use different parts of the jews and they would make things like lamp shades and gloves out of their skin and ashtrays and soap dishes out of skull caps, and give them to VIP's who visited the camp. I bet he didn't smoke pot either. Using people parts for lampshades, bongs, whatever is just wrong on so many levels. I also think i read it was a kids skull.

No the nazi's were meth heads. That's why they could march so far so fast. It's true, look it up.
yeah i know that from hitler down to little soilder joe blow, when you get right down to it all sides expeirmented with stimulents especially the pilots. But there was a concentration camp commander and his wife that did that. It was some camp that started with a b like buchenwold or something like that
