Opinions tend to be subjective.
These are facts.
The number of high quality diodes you are getting(450 to 288 on the QB 288 ) is comparable. $80 HLG R-Spec. $130 High light board. 450-288=162 more diodes on the High Light board. 1.6x what the QB288 has. $80*1.6=$128. Similar price within a couple of dollars.
I don't believe Grow Lights Australia sells bargain boards. This is not Alibaba, and you are not in Shenzhen. What they do sell is a well made product that is comparable in price to an HLG QB 288 R-Spec board, and has a beautiful spectrum that appears to grow even more beautiful flowers.

After watching Or_gro do the side by sides using the GLA boards vs the HLG boards, i think its safe to say, GLA are very much at the top of the game for quality and spectrum. The results spoke for themselves. I dont care for or take much stock in many side by sides or tests i see around here, but Or_gro kept things extremely transparent and pushed everyhing to the absolute limits, ill take his results and testing as gospel.
These boards were created by a bunch of growers who wanted to do better than what the market offered and at an affordable price, what they did was give us more diodes and a kickass spectrum and they are priced well.
HLG is still king of the market and rightfully so, but theres def a new game in town

HLG R-Spec Quantum Boards are US$79 each. If you buy our boards and live overseas, you get 10% off tax. If you buy four boards or more, you get a 10% bulk discount. If you use the RIU discount code "FORUM", you get another 10% off. That brings our boards down to US$109 each. However, our boards are 1.6x bigger than a Quantum Board and have 450 LEDS vs 288. Also, our heatsinks are very cheap (and heavy duty, too).
We're not criticising HLG – we have many customers who have used their products with great success, and they have done a lot to promote LED horticulture over the years (and deserve their market-leading status, IMO). I was just pointing out that, diode for diode, ours are comparable in price. They do look a bit expensive to begin with, but after all the discounts etc, we believe they are well-priced considering we use expensive LEDs, as well as 2mm thick PCBs and 2oz copper. We haven't cut any corners and ours are among the only "true" full spectrum (400-700+nm) single channel (one driver) boards on the market.
Again, I'm not trying to spam this thread, I'm only trying to provide accurate information. We appreciate everyone's kind words and help.

I think you have done a fantastic job with the boards and I'd the chance to get a couple when they first came out but was financially embarrassed at the time lol and already had these boards below
The 'second rate' single channel Alibaba 512 diode boards from Russell with a true full spectrum too lol
I still might get some of your boards to try in the future tho

Been running them ~ 15 months now, no diodes out and they're holding up well at ~ 75 watts per 512 diode board. Uber efficient. Heatsinks are cool to the touch.
The FOTOPS were from Meijui.
Both Chinese Alibaba
I always try and double up on the diode count were possible and run them at low wattage for better spread of light and efficiency
I'm such a cheapskate but it works!

To be honest I don't think too many people have had any issues with mid powered diodes or they're keeping quiet about it.
So the quality is ok. Diodes are not top bin, probably, but when run soft and double the diodes it's swings and roundabouts.... Better coverage. Two boards, lights are better than one or In my case 9 in the room is sweet lol
There's just the warranty issue with Alibaba if it does go pear shaped

How'd you rig up your fotops? It looks like the diodes are reflecting off a piece of angle aluminum in that pic? You mount the Aluminum down in the sides?

They grow great weed, no doubt about it.
The problem is that there are other lights in the hut and although I have 1 plant directly under each board the 2 plants get hit with overspill light from the QBs, FOTOPs Growgreen and platinum board side lighting......... lol.
So it'd be unfair to give a judgement but I'd happily run a room of them on their own.
Plus I just chop them all and hang them on their stems, then take the buds off when dry and by that time they're all mixed up
But everyone loves it.You know me, always tinkering....

Yes down the sides so I can set it on the floor without damaging the diodes although it been hanging there for 1year and 10 months and it'll be another year yet before I put it on the floor again!
They have served me well and will eventually retire to low wattage side lighting in the end lol

I was thinking about this myself, somebody posted a comment about the jury still being out on "boards", vs the known durability of COBs.
I've still, yet to lose a single Gen1 BXEB diode. 3+years. Dozens of strips.
I have beaten the absolute living shit out of at least a few of my 560mm strips.
By now, some of them have been on at least 3 different frame configurations, with, and without backing/heatsinkish material.
I easily destroyed the four COBs from my very first build. First, and only COB build.
