KindLED K3 COB Retrofit

Has anyone popped one of these open to see if it would be possible to retrofit the panel with COBs? Like GrowMau5 did with the Mars? I've got one, and it seems that emitter failure is inevitable. So, when that happens it would be fun to replace them with COBs. Any thoughts?

I believe @Growmau5 is one of early adopters & pioneers in cob implementation for growing weed.
however the priciples should be similar.

I guess @Growmau5 is not going to buy all the cheap fixture to show us how to transform it (you should call your panel OPTIMUS PRIME after the transformation...lol!)
You should give us the spec of the drivers and the hs size!
With those info i am sure someone will find a solution!

I might be converting different fixtures to COBs soon. Take pics of the driver, personally I plan to use my old LEDs only for the frame, and maybe heatsinks and fans, but your driver might be good enough and I dont think much can go wrong with them when used properly. I plan to buy the drivers for my first convert and once I am a bit more familiar with everything I might start reusing old parts ...

Since the light is still good right now, I don't have any plans on taking it apart. But it seems the life of them is about 11-14 months. But maybe I"ll get bored this weekend and pop the case and see what's going on inside.

I wouldnt wait until the light is dead or starts to fail ....it means nothing, some of my cheapest led lights from china are still running 100% 4 years later ... what you are losing on by running old or cheap lights is efficiency ... basically spending more money on electricity than you would with newer technology ... and also much better results with newer tech
