Uh I found Popeyes to be way overrated. Not to say KFC is any better. But I would have to go KFC because the bowl is fucking delicious.
If other was an option I would pick Ezelles, it's always been Oprahs favorite chicken so much so that she has it flown to her from Seattle to Chicago. Plus it just won best fried chicken in the country. It's simply the best.

Regarde the two choices presented by the OP:
Popeye's tastes better than KFC (to me).
But home cooked yardbird is the best (SO many ways to prepare it and season it! YUMMY!!!).
I prefer baked bird these days, though.
And, as I tell my vegan wife when she tries to make me feel bad about my love and need to consume animal flesh:
"If chickens were 6' tall and 200-lbs (+), they'd be eating US! So I'm just doing what I can to slow down their re-evolution back to being gigantic, ravenous, unstoppable Terror Birds. No need to thank me for my sacrifice, but you're welcome."
(*plus: Popeye was one of my childhood heroes. Him, and Daffy Duck. Friendly bit of advice: DON'T piss off the duck!!!)

When KFC merged with A&W the place went disgusting. even though popeyes isn't too far behind that would be my choice.
