Keeping the strain around

How would you keep a strain around in the seed markets if the seeds only last 2-10 years?
Depends how they stored how long they last and well you got two ways keep the parents as cuts so u can remake it with the right selections or you go the harder way work it into a seedline work it till your happy with it and just pop seeds of it and make new seeds of the line every say 3 to 5 years just to be safe of course you can chemically reverse it and go the fem route too but imo for preservation fems aint good there only good for flower production really

Agh yeah nothing lasts forever without effort!
Definitely not lose the parents and 99% of the time you lose the strain plus to do it right takes time and if you make the wrong selections then you have to back track sometimes lines also dont pan out the way you think also take ibls for example in other plants that means it will breed true for many traits in cannabis its usually only a few traits like potency yield resin etc but you can even still have vast differences in structure and hieght within that one population to put it simply we have only mastered this plant so much vs other crops this is also why less seedmakers work lines and only make f1s its easier it takes skill and numbers and the eye for selection to maintain a line right

seeds last alot longer than 10 years. when you harvest seeds you put them in a fridge. also the more seeds you have the greater the chance there will be a viable seed

there is an experiment still running and currently seeds are still viable after 120 years....
Stored right that doesnt suprise me even more so if they were correctly frozen i did see a intresting one a guy over on icmag not so long ago using a old gardening technique waxing he was coating his seeds in wax and getting good results so that plus the fridge or freezer cant hurt its one to think about
