Keeping the eye in the sky blind.

Helicopters. That's my issue with being outdoors, seems like I'm in an area that has loads of air traffic. Military doesn't bother me, however the blacked out chopper does. I figure that feds would be more concerned with the meth houses in the area but still I'd like to be safe and mask my hobby grow from prying eyes.

What would be a good way to mask the grow from birds eye view? I have in mind some sort of mesh 7mm+

Also smell how do I mask the smell of buds? Currently starting a flower garden hopping that'll be enough however I'm skeptical so am looking for some advice.

guerilla growing. tie em down, alter the leaves, use companion plants to mask odor and camouflage your girls.there's a lot of answers. there is a guerilla growing thread here somewhere, let me see if i can find it for you.

it's hard to hide, especially in an urban area. it depends on how hard they're looking. you can stretch some camo netting over it and it will block it from eyes, but if they're using flir, weed has a distinctive heat signature, and i'm not sure the netting would block that. of course it also depends on the size of your grow, 3 or 4 plants is going to be a small blip on a fast moving screen, 30 or 40, or 300 or 400, is going to be a much bigger blip to miss.
as far as smell, tomatoes have a good strong odor and are big enough to block some view. rosemary has a strong but pleasant odor. lavendar the same. weeds gonna stink like weed, but if you have as many other strong smelling plants around as you can, it will at least blend in to the total smell somewhat. there are several varieties of weed that are known for having low smell, i'm sure you can find some with a little search.
you can also train your plants to grow out low along the ground, breaking the familiar "christmas tree" silhouette people look for.

I'm on the right track then and I'm just a hobbyist single digits. I've been trying to sprout some lavender and it's not going for me, had to get two more bags of seed trying it again.

Get transplants . Marigold are good especially the African - grows 2-3' high and bushy and has a pretty powerful smell. I use them in my veggie to help control bugs.

lol i have mine on a roof on a gazebo in the backyard, im pretty sure unless your have a 200+ plant grow op as well as a perpetual harvest and you’re racking in big bucks no ones going to come for you bud. i always see copters flying over wouldnt worry about it too much.

edit: im guessing you’re not in a legal state or even close to becoming one? if thats the case disregard what i said

yeah, if they're flying over and don't notice anything, they'll notice you freaking out and running around like a decapitated rooster

My buddy had one plant out behind his barn. RCs took it. No charges but he lost a nice plant.

Start them young with LST. Keep em close to other plants if possible. I usually have 5-10 in my backyard every summer. Choppers fly over almost daily. There is a municipal airport close by. But still I flip em the bird and tell those fly boys to suck it!!:finger: every time they fly circles low over my property. :bigjoint::eyesmoke:

A method I've used is to put them under a tree. Breaks up the outline and keeps our harsh midday sun dappled on the ladies. That said, it's a rare occasion I get to use this trick
