Keeping mother plants.

I need to know if it is best to keep mother plants on a flood table to control nutrients better or dirt in buckets?
Next, how long should you wait to take clones from a mother.1 month? 2 months?
Next? I heard a clone wont root very well if mother is grown with too high nitrogen. Is that correct?
Need all the input on this subject. Thanks everyone!

If you need to take a lot of cuttings frequently, I'd go with a hydro system for the faster growth rate. If your mother is going to spend most of her time just sitting around (like most) - I'd go with soil and minimal lighting since it's less of a bother. You can take cuts from a mother anytime she has enough growth - no need to really wait a specific amount of time (as long as she's healthy). Never really had any trouble trying to clone cannabis - regardless of nutrients or even if the plant was early flowering.

Great! sounds good.Thanks

I would run your moms in hydro to keep them healthy and thriving. Soil is fine too but it takes longer to see new growth. I clip my moms 15 times every 2 weeks. I keep them under a 400 watt MH running an ebb n flow set to flood every 3 hours for 15 mins. THEY LOVE IT!!!! As far as cloning goes as long as your plant is healthy, your equipment is sterile and clean, and you do it correctly ( 45 degree cut, scrape to expose, dip, plant) you should have 0 issues. Another great tip that I feel is a long lost artform is to foliar feed them Thrive alive or some other B1 ( 25% strength ) after cloning to reduce stress, spray the underside of the leaves only about 15-20 mins before your lights come on. THIS WORKS WONDERS FOR YOUR MOTHERS!!! Do this 3 days before you clone and 2 days after as well.
