I started ten seeds in March. Seven of them germinated. All females. Three of them are being grown in a mountain valley at around 7000' altitude in 50 gallon containers in a microclimate that receives about 8-9 hours of direct sunlight every day. Temperatures range from around 85 degrees F during the day to 45 degrees F at night.

The others are being grown in huge 6' x 6' prepared plots in amended native soil that is about 18"-24" in depth on a high mesa in an area a number of miles from the first grow at about 7500' altitude. Since this area is exposed, there is a much longer photoperiod during the day than the valley grow. They are spaced 12' apart. The environment is brutal there with wind gusts up to 60 MPH, temperature variables from 90º+F during the day to 40ºF at night.

The UV factor at both grows is high due to the altitude. The plants in both gardens are being watered with snowmelt runoff from the mountains in this area. They are hardening off nicely right now in their respecitve microclimates. Pics to come.
