Kagen water, hypochlorous acid, and the hunch.

Hi, I hope there is a chemist in attendance tonight, and I hope to hear "Great Scott!! You're a Flippin Genius my man! We're all gonna be rich, and we're all gonna get laid!!! " anything less I will view as unambiguous catastrophic failure on my part. So, let's thread that needle, aye?

I'll just say what I'm doing succinctly and await judgment.
Athena Ag Cleanse is .028% hypochlorous acid. I just happened to be in a Kagen water cult... ahem... i meant store... at the water.. store, I learned about how the Kagen machine creates hypochlorous acid. To demonstrate its effectiveness a bag of green tea was dunked into tap water, to no effect. Then this tea bag was tea bagged into the room temp hypochlorous water, instant green tea. Pretty impressive actually.
Here is my giant stupid leap. I put 100ml of insect frass into a beaker, followed by 300ml of Athena ag Cleanse, followed by 300 ml kagen water. Ill be straining and adding the (presumably, it turned dark brown immediately, not unlike the green tea incident aformentioned) Chitosan/hypochlorous mixture with Potassium Silicate and Sea Green (and Heavy16 prime probably, cuz im feeling frisky) to make about 10 gallons of spray .

Are we all gonna get laid? Or am I going to have to pistol whip several Armenians during my escape after the plants turn to sulfer and blood?

I feel crazy, but I let Jesus take the wheel and he is sober as a bird. Just can't walk down the beach for shit and I have to carry his drunk ass... I've said too much..

Ok i'll bite i'm a chemist. I have a question first before I can understand what is going on. Did the liquid turn brown immediately after adding Athena ag cleanse or after adding the kagen water?

Hypochlorous acid is the protonated form of bleach. I'd be interested if you do the experiment with diluted bleach and tell your results.

Me too. Not a chemist by any stretch but I do have a BSN so I "might" be able follow along. Probably not though because I smoke a lot of weed, lol.

The Chitosan, Sea Green, and K2SiO3 combined would be similar to the now discontinued AN Bud Factor X.

I didnt think anyone would respond to my manic bullshit... but since you ask. I had not added sea green at the time of the photo. I actually didn't write what i did correctly. The silica is out of place..

What I've started doing is alternating two foliar sprays, one Salicylic acid, Dark Energy based. And 8-10 days later I take about a gallon of Ro water (using kagen water is too silly) and add a 5 gallon dose of monosilicic acid (wait 30 min), about a cup of insect frass and/or crab meal, stir, then add 400ml of cleanse (tiny amount of hypochlorous acid). I let that sit for an hour at least, up to overnight. Then agitate with a drywall mud mixer and drill until its frothy (5 seconds to a minute). And strain through my 73 micron bubble bag, squeezing all the water out.

My logic (faulty though it may be) is that the highly alkaline mixture more efficiently converts chitin into chitosin. I'll add seagreen and floralicious plus to the topped up 5 gallons of spray (and follower, always fulpower in foliar)
Last thing. Ph down to 5.7, add Ezwet. Or lately, optic foliar transport. And spray.

If you read all that... don't take my word for anything, this seems to really work well for me, but I've applied scientific rigor in only one way, I use the same proportions when I mix. Which, meh, doesn't tell you much. I'd be curious to hear a educated take on the efficacy of the highly alkaline chitin strategy, and whether that seems like a thumbs .

Have a good one.

What's up @707 Loki . Saw you posting on another thread about Athena's nutrients, followed your profile, found this post. Dusted off an old account I never used just to reply.
It's interesting stuff for sure. The introduction in "Chitosan Effects on Plant Systems" by Malerba & Cerana (2016) states:
For industrial production, solid chitin is soaked in 40%–50% (w/v) NaOH. This process removes more than 80% of the acetyl residues and converts N-acetyl-D-glucosamine into β-1,4-D-glucosamine. The CHT preparations are heterogeneous as for deacetylation degree, molecular mass, polymerization degree, viscosity, acid dissociation constant (pKa value), and the term “chitosan” does not describe a unique compound, but a group of commercially available copolymers.
The alkaline-driven hydrolysis of the chitin in the insect frass makes good sense. I don't know if it's alkaline enough, because 40-50% w/v NaOH is some damned basic solution. It seems like the hydroxide is getting used in hydrolysis during deacetylation of the chitin, so your base is going to get used up in this reaction. And because insect frass isn't pure chitin, it's possible your hydroxides are going to react with other molecules present too. So I doubt you'll get anywhere near the 80% deactylation they see, but the alkalinity should definitely help over neutral or acidic water.

Because I think too hard, and biostimulants is a sexy word to me. So what better mate for my salicylic acid bi weekly squirter.

No puns intended big guy.

I know I’m late to the party but it sounds like a snake oil pitch at that water store. If they took a dry tea bag and placed it in regular water, it had to take up water. So when they added that same bag to their “wonder water” yeah I bet it immediately released the already moistened and prepped tea much quicker.
It would be the same as someone taking dry peat, adding a little water and showing how the water just runs off the top. Well they do a few min sales pitch while all that water sits in the container slowly rehydrating the peat so then when they added their “miracle moistening water” it would make it seem like it just instantly rehydrates the peat when it’s just using the previous water to do all the real work.

Hmmm, I like it.. i don't precisely recall. My ego is trying to tell my memory that there were two tea bags... but i bet you're right. How do we explain the cherry tomato tasting so ridiculously better, those only went into 1 glass each with "microclustered" water and not?

I’m very actively not getting laid. I question your entire thesis.
