So, I think it might have something to do with heat stress? It's been out with direct sunlight but I figured It would be fine since it's been overcast for the past few days here (growing outdoors). The picture is below, I just wanted an experience member to tell me what's up since this is my first grow.:peace:IMG_20130603_174455.jpg

I think some beginners could tell you what's wrong. Is it not growing? I would only transplant seedlings outside only after 3-4 weeks and it had a chance to grow indoors under optimal conditions using CFLs. Seedlings are very fragile- just about anything can kill them OR stunt their growth.

Eh, seedlings can make it on their own outdoors just fine or the plant would not have survived thousands of years haha

well indoors over 90% of them do fine for me. Outdoors it's about half. I have 4 seedlings in a 5 gallon pot, 2 died, 2 survived and are thriving. Why? They were all healthy at the time...I'm not sure. One thing I'm sure of is these strange anomalies happen when I plant outside (at an early stage) and not when I grow indoors. It should be added that my plants do VERY well when I start indoors and x-fer outdoors at about that 3-4 week period. Their stem gets huge. I'll take a picture of one (unfortunately I had to pull them back in due to neighbors harassment) Check it out... This is month old plant.

Ok I think first 2 posts are both wrong and right

Yes seedlings can survive outside, but yes they are fragile too.

Yes they wouldn't of survived naturally if they couldn't grow outdoor, but the ones that germinated best in the wild probably started a little shaded in the undergrowth- not in some cleared full-sun position.

Also though, who says it's not growing? The op didn't... but he also didn't mention how old it is either. More info on that would be useful before conclusions are made.

As for the burnt looking tips- that could be a few things. It could be too much radiation from the sun at such a very fragile age (just sprouted) but it could also be to do with the soil mix. Is it pre-fertilized? Seedlings are very fussy about what they sprout in.

More info is needed, but I would also advise you not to put the sun in full sun all day until it's a bit bigger or use some kind of shade cloth. It's not just the sun too really- if it buckets down rain on a seedling that small it that might even snap it... I personally learnt that one some years ago.

It started off ok now it looks fucked. Burnt ,either the sun or overfert.

lol 2 days old you say? Well it's too soon to say if it's stunted but you should be noticing it grow every day. If all goes well, it should have one formed leaf set and starting the next about 7 days after the shell falls off. If it is stunted, sometimes it can recover in a week or so but if you are in that territory its too hard to tell you how long it will take or if it even will recover

If it's in direct sun already, I really suggest moving it under the mild shade of a big plant or something. A nursery wouldn't plant their seed right in the full sun, they would have a green house looking 'shade house' to establish it in. Something with a shade cloth or agricultural tarp over it (not normal clear tarp because it removes spectrum's of light).

Higher humidity and warm temperature is ideal for a seedling too- so some nursery's 'shade house' also lock in humidity and block the wind.

Keep that in mind because so far it's so small the the elements will be a big threat to it.

Alright thanks. I've had such a bad start on this plant:/ my other strain however is already on it's 8th pairs of leafs & at a week old.
