Just Starting

Alright very new to this, but have always wanted to do it. Budget for Lights and set up is 1 grand. That is the max. So guys work your magic start listing what I should buy to get this off the ground. XD Going to be growing Northern Lights (have ten feminized seeds). problem is I am going on a trip for a week in the middle of April. Will it be ready by then or should I wait till I get back?

I'm not sure how long NL takes but most strains take 8-9 weeks just to flower so imo- I would get set up together. How do you want to grow soil or hydro? Where are you gonna grow? have you done any research yet? theres a lot of things to consider. lights, nutes, medium(soil/hydro) venting, cooling, odor controll. So If your going away for a week, the ony way I can think of you finishing crop before you leave is flower from seed, and you might be finished in time for trip. Might want to just wait, read, reread, and set up and grow some monsters when you get back.

Yeah I have been doing some research online, on here and a couple other spots. Thinking soil and then as far as lights go FL for grow and then MH for vegitation stage but really don't know too much. No one really has like step by step how to do it. It all goes over my head. haha

go floro or mh for veg than hps for flower

Ok so mh for veg and hps for flowering. now I see tons of places to buy bulbs but not fixtures or anything for the bulbs. I think I might be slightly retarded. haha

Check out any- my first grow journals usually in peeps sig. You can learn alot from peeps here on riu. I read stuff for months to learn many different things. Still learning. Go to search and try first grow and check out what peeps here are building so you know what you can be up against. I have seen peeps grow closet w/floros to building huge rooms covered in mylar and 12 1k hps lights. So I would start the set up and grow when you get back, wouldnt want baby's burnt while gone on vacation.

I am also looking at only 4 plants at a time, something that I think I can handle. No real big operation.

Thanks man I will check it out. Sounds like the best way to start the room now and then start when I get back. Just hard looking for lighting fixtures and all that good stuff. I have seeds for Northern Lights, White Rhino and Ak 48. Want to do it right. haha

a 400 watt system is great for 4 plants

My advice to you is to start out with some bagseed first. You may be far different than I, but it took me a couple of tries before I got anything productive going. You budget is FAR larger than mine was, so perhaps I'm off base here. I'd HATE to see those valuable seeds ruined by a simple mistake. No disrespect intended.

Its ok Sandman. I didn't take any disrespect. It is a lot of work. I am OCD though so once I figure out how to do it I will keep up with it.

i would go hydro its much less work you get alot more bud...
i only started growing soil a month ago.. first timer! but hydro looks great.
i admit people say the bud taste alot better in soil but hydros the way to go i think

To me hydro looks intimidating. haha I look at hydro systems and just don't even know where to begin or what to do.

Ok now as far as nutes and soils go what is everyone recommending and really where is everyone going to get theirs?
