It feels good to be on the way to being legal. I think it will take about 2 more days for my letter to get down to Lansing then 21 days until I'm Legit.

I got certified by the people at Alternative Solutions Plus. They only charged me half price because I am a Veteran. That was pretty freaking cool. I visited the Dr on Saturday and I had my recommendation in the mail today.

I mailed in my package via certified mail.

Just thought I'd drop in and say Hi.

Hate to piss in your cornflakes, but if the amendments pass you will not be legal...

There's no way I'd be applying right now.. not with the current ass-fucking were about to take.

It's impossible to predict how fucked up this state will end up. Isn't it possible that people may want to get legal while they can? Maybe in the near future people will have to go through much more bullshit. Our government is getting as unreasonable as my ol lady. Why do I stay with either one?

No the point is, if the amendments pass, 99% of patients will be NOT LEGAL anymore. I don't know one person that has a cert from a "bonified Dr./Pt relationship" we all had to go to a MMJ doctor to get our certs because family physicians do not do certs... As soon (if) they pass we will be illegal and on a list for arrest.

"On a list for arrest"??

I hope you have this on good authority, stump. That's a pretty serious tid-bit you just threw out there!

One of the amendments is that upon issuing your card they will send your information to the Michigan State Police for a "database" of MMJ cardholders. One of the other amendments pertaining to the "bonafide Dr./Pt relationship" will make you illegal if you went to any holistic center etc to get your cert. Another amendment is eliminating "chronic pain" as a certifiable condition..

So what do you think they are going to do with a list and a bunch of disqualified people that are growing?

Yeah, I see what you're saying. In my case I think I'll be OK. Either way, they would still have to have reason to search your home, no?

If an 'illegal' dr/patient relationship is established, and a suspected grow is happening, I'm sure they would say that is 'reason enough to search' as you would technically be breaking the MMJ law. Just a thought...

I dunno stump, I suppose concern is necessary but I'm not sure that change will be easy for our state legislators due to the 3/4 majority rule. All we can do is wait and see but certain amendments have an absolute zero chance of passing such as sending patient information to the state police....I'd imagine that would be a direct violation of HIPAA would it not?

It's almost a fruitless effort to sit and ponder over which way the legislature will lean in the end since there is little we can do so I'll just wait on the sidelines and see how things pan out. Who knows, if the legislature fucks us and the will of 63% of the electorate, perhaps the public backlash would actually promote the possible passing of the legalization amendment.

The next 10 months will definitely be interesting.

I could be mistaken, but I don't think they'd need a 3/4 majority to pass amendments such as these to the current bill. I think a simple 51% majority is all they would need. If they were trying to overturn the bill all together (a voter initiative), they'd need a 3/4 majority to do so.

Again, I could be mistaken, but I believe that's the way this works.

Looks like you're right on that one dude.

[h=3]Legislative tampering[/h] See also: Legislative tampering The Michigan State Legislature may only change or repeal initiated measures by three-fourths supermajority vote in each house. In the case of initiated statutes, this only requires a simple majority. In the case of amendments, the Legislature must pass an amendment by a two-thirds majority and place it on the ballot. (The same process is required for ordinary legislatively-referred constitutional amendments.)
See law: Michigan Constitution, Article II, Section 9 & Article XII, Section 2

Since the Michigan Compassionate Care Initiative was passed as an 'Initiated Statute', the law only requires a 51% majority in the state legislature to modify it. BUMMER.....

I've decided to stop going to Starbucks or Caribou every day and I'm putting that $$ into a fund for the next election. MMJ friendly candidates will get the kitty. I figure I spend between $3 and $5 bucks a day. That should be a pretty good kitty, if I don't dip into it.

Kowall and Marleau seats are where my $$ target is set for the moment.

How delayed are the cards now? 6 months?
Took my wife a bit over 4 months to get hers. I don't much like starbucks....can't get out of there w/o spending $3-4 for a damned coffee. I can't criticize much though as I spend $3-4/day on piss water from anheuser-busch....shit I mean anheuser-inbev :)
