I placed my first order from a seedshop. I ordered a 5 pack of Nirvana autoflowering Northern Lights and a 3 pack of Barneys Pineapple Express autos. I ordered both from Herbies. I'm currently working on my first grow with bagseed and they seem to be coming along nicely, but I wanted to get my hands on some fem seeds, so there's not as much chance of having all males, and I figured I'd give the autos a try while I was at it. Any thoughts, input or tales of experience with these strains, breeders and seedshop would be appreciated. Thanks RIU community.

I am running northern lights short riders through right now, I think for first timers the auto flower stuff is probably best to get the hang of it. here is where you can keep up with that if so desired. If I could offer some advice it would be once you get them in the dirt, relax take every symptom and environmental factor in and soak it in, from your grow room/tent air flow to heat to water to lighting just soak it all up and then when you need advice you will have a better feel of whether the advice will work for your particular situation. and enjoy ... I mean enjoy... it is like acupuncture for the brain so relaxing and oh so thought inspiring. wonderful hobby I cant wait to hear about your adventures

Thanks Seeder. Once they arrive and I get them planted, I'll start a thread/journal and petition the minds of all the vet growers on here for advice as I go if I run into any snags.

5.jpg1.jpgI'm on my first northern lights auto grow right now as well, been about a month and they just started flowering, got 4/5 to sprout, one of them just didn't take =\ they are really good looking plants =)

I've read, not on here, that with the NL autos, you run them in a 1-2 gal pot, for the duration. What have you been growing them in? Since they are going to finish on their own schedule without me actually putting them through veg and flower, does a much bigger pot make that much of a difference in yield, like it does with a regular plant? The seeds aren't here yet, so I can actually plan ahead this time and have everything in place. Thanks!

i start my seeds in the finishing pot, which is about a 5 gallons. when i first started growing i used a 2 gallon pot, but after several grows i doubled the pot size and also the yield. GL

i buy soil from a local nursery that grows ornamental plants. i've been using Jack's 20-20-20 (used to be Peter's)exclusively for over 30 years. good stuff! GL

I have another dumn/noob question. I've read a lot on here that the roots on autos grow out wide, but not deep. So would I be better served by getting a lower, wider pot for them? Do you think it would make a difference? I'm assuming better root health=better plant, better buds, better yield. Is there any sense to this line of logic?

I personally have not heard this before, I went with pots that wernt really quite big enough so I would suggest to get 3-5 gallon pots to be safe on all counts, that's what I'm guna do on my next grow anyways. GL il sub this when I get on the laptop later!

i've never had root problem using standard pots. the roots always fill the soil from top to bottom. GL
