Well the one undercover officer came back to my house today and offered to drop the charges if I would pay a $100 Civil Citation. I agreed of course. I just wish they would stop coming to my house, lol.

Thanks, ya they were kind of assholes. I mean it never dawned on me that I would get in trouble for putting garbage in a garbage bin lol.

I went back and took pictures of all sides of the dumpster to be able to show that there were no signs posted that said I couldn't dump anything in it. The only signs on it said "DO NOT PARK, DO NOT BLOCK" then it had one that said "CAUTION Do not fill above top of container" and underneath that it had a list of items that you were not allowed to place in the dumpster. I didn't throw any items in it that were on the list..
good idea with the pics. it might not be an excuse but at least you are presenting facts and being honest. hopefully the judge will be cool and just laugh and drop it. it's an honest mistake and everyone has it happen from time to time. just sucks they gotta be dicks when the whole thing could have been resolved without the court system even being involved. talk about the government creating useless jobs for retards lol. i would be pissed about the petty theft label, it's not like it was intentional. and at least you were being environmentally safe and throwing boxes away instead of burning it like so many others do. keep us posted. im interested to see what happens in areas where cops having nothing good to do except harass people, kinda like where i live.

Why the fuck did you tell them to charge you with anything?

Oh yes officer, thanks for asking, I did throw those boxes in there, can YOU make the decision not to prosecute me now? Oh you are going to charge me with the crime I just admitted to? Why oh why?
Grab a few of the larger knifes in your house, climb to your roof, hold the blades tight and jump off.

Sorry but Huge fuckup admitting anything to the cops. As far as the questioning, should have told them when they threatened it, wait here I'll get my coat and you can take me downtown. NEver talk to the pigs about even the weather. '' sorry officer I am not answering questions today''. and just keep your mouth shut!!!! Much easier to pay the 350 to a lawyer and get it dropped. I would contact the developers secretary and work something out at this point and get the charges dropped.

lmao, sounds like a movie, made from an album by none other than Arlo Guthrie,, Alice's Restaurant,, too funny,,
"That's what we did, and drove back to the church, had a thanksgiving
dinner that couldn't be beat, went to sleep and didn't get up until the
next morning, when we got a phone call from officer Obie. He said, "Kid,
we found your name on an envelope at the bottom of a half a ton of
garbage, and just wanted to know if you had any information about it." And
I said, "Yes, sir, Officer Obie, I cannot tell a lie, I put that envelope
under that garbage."
the similarity is hilarious

This dude is in jail, cops don't show up in umarked vehicles in pairs out of uniform to tell you that you can't dump your trash in a particular dumpster. And then to come back with a reduced penalty? Yeah, they have to have him by now. Usually after they make first contact in a weird way like that, you have a couple hours or a couple days before they come get you for real.

More evidence of the facist police state we are quickly becoming. They can make anyone out to be a criminal.
I understand the dumpster owners POV as well. But when they send two undercover cops to your addy instead of just sending you a citation they are destroying any faith one might have in the system.

They charge you too much for cheap crap and then they force you to pay to get rid of all the cheap, crappy stuff they sold you. Hmmmmmm, that actually makes sense. Time to light up

Fuck you guys. I don't think it was a huge fuck up at all. I got off with a $100 fine and nothing on my record.

I could see that concern if the dumpster was clearly at the location of someone elses business/property or if it had a sign posted that it wasn't for public use. However, that was not the case for me, it was on an empty lot, in MY neighborhood where I pay huge community fees that probably pay for the damn dumpster in the first place.
An empty lot is the developer's private property.. They don't needsignage any more than a neighbour does if they don't want you walking up their driveway and using their trash-can..
