My buddy who grew about 5 years ago just gave me all this stuff, lol. I was wondering a few things!

First off, 5 year old nutes..They go bad right?

Second is that i got fifteen seeds off a strain he said was called "caramelicious" that he ordered online, ive never heard of it. Have any of you? o_O

The third thing is most important. The ballast is for a HPS bulb. He is an electrician, so he bought an outdoor HPS flood light and ghettorigged it for indoor use. He didn't have the bulb anymore. So looking at this ballast, pretty much the only markings i see on it is "660w 600v" on the inside of the socket ring. As far as i can tell, there's no such thing as a 660w HPS bulb? Also the bulb socket looks similar to (if not the same) as a regualr bulb socket, i thought HPS had huge bulb sockets.

I have been told by local grow store nutes... 2 years. If stored correctly. And my HPS sockets are larger than the standard light. As for the ghettorigged I personally wouldnt feel safe using, hate indoor fires. Peace

A fire isn't anything i'm worried about, he just wired it to fit a standard socket instead of wiring it to the box. I'm just not sure as to what kind of HPS bulb or what wattage i need to be using.

It is a viable strain; I had smoked it a few years back, I think, but I know I've heard of it. The seeds might germinate, depends on how they were stored and also how "viable" they were in the first place.
What you saw on the socket is the rating; most standard (household) sockets are of this rating. It is NOT the standard for HID bulbs. They use what is referred to as a "Mogul" socket, much larger than a standard bulb's socket. You can buy one (I sell 2) with a cord attached or not. The bigger problem you have is to decipher what is the exact wattage rating of the ballast. Otherwise you are going to burn expensive bulbs out. Why your friend changed the socket is besides me unless he was using a lower wattage bulb, Many of the 250 Watt and lower bulbs will be available in either the standard base or the Mogul. If it has a Capacitor (usually a round canister w/ 2 wires) AND an Ignitor (usually a canister with 3 or more wires), then it is HPS; if just the Capacitor then it is MH. Hope this helps a bit. Remember that you get what you pay for; nothing more; nothing less...

I will post pics in a bit when my gf gets home, and I could also be wrong about the socket. Its all in her car atm, though :c I just took a quick glance at it.
