Just converting to hydro for the first time...

I have a couple of newbie questions for my new hydro setup..

PH
1. What is a prime pH level? (mine is currently at about 5.6)

PPM
1. What should my ppm be? (mine is currently at about 600)
2. What is the importance of ppm?
3. How do I adjust ppm?

I'm running on a HydroFarm drip system.
1. Can I leave the water dripping constantly or should I have periods of dryness?
2. I think I have a N deficiency because my seedling is looking kind of light green. Suggestions?

Thanks for any help, I really appreciate it.

1)PH = 5.5-6.0 ( 5.8 being perfect)

PPM??? All strains are different some can take a high PPM some cant. In veg I like to stay under 700 PPM
In flower I try and stay at around 900 PPM
PPM is important it's basically the amount of nutrients you are adding to the water ( Parts Per Million)
Get yourself a PH meter and PPM meter or combo that does both. Get that ASAP
You adjust PPM by adding nutrients if you put too much in you can dilute the nutrients by taking out whats in your reservoir and replacing it with Reverse Osmosis water.

I dont run drip system cant answer your question.
In seedling stage start off 1/4 strength nutes ( keep the PPM under 300)
Go to generalhydropnics.com and use thier "nutrient calculator" it helps out a bunch. Look into reverse osmosis water too oh yeah and if you chose to use R/O water you need to add Cal/Mag ( R/O water filters that shit out) .

Your PPM is 600 and are those the pics of your plants?? I mean there freakin tiny little infants....600ppm seems a little high for plants SO small.....Those plans should only need a taste of nutes curtinly not 600ppm .....But im only going of those pics maybe there bigger now??

well its actually just one plant that im trying out the hydro setup with..its about 2 weeks old now..does ppm increase when i add ph up and down because its seems to be slowly climbing.

You have a young plant it will suffer nute burn. In DWC I dont go over 500 PPM in veg I stay around 900 in flower.

I agree 100% all I do diffent is I run at 1300ppm in flower
the drip system should be on a timer and adjusted for 3 to 4 feeds at 30min. when the lights are on hydrotron will suport the plant water needs between drip cycles

the ph up/down should not affect the PPM. the PPM are slowly climbing because they are drinking more of the water than they are the nutes. if your PPMs raise then you are over feeding and if they drop then you are underfeeding. if you can keep them at a steady PPM then that is there ideal PPM range.

Well I decided to go ahead and post some new pics since it's been a week now. Just changed the watering schedule to hellraizer's recommendation (apparently I was wayyy over watering). Drained, cleaned and refilled the res with some nice clean water and about a half tsp/gal of nutes

pH is at 5.4
PPM is at 330

Just realized how much salt deposits are everywhere..is this a bad thing?

Salt deposits arent bad thats why I do a 14 day flush when using GH nutes I do 7 days with Florakleen and another 7 days with just r/o water.

I flush for 3 days right before I flip to flower. you can do it as much as you feel the need
just remember plants store nutes in them, not 100% on how long they do but flushing
not going to deprive the plant if you chose to flush more proactive.
