Those prices are non-contract, meaning you end up paying for the phone over time. I personally don't mind paying an extra $30/ month more than the the non-contract carriers as it is just another way of financing these incredible phones.
Although I like the HTC phones, yours is a really nice one. Have fun with it.

I'd rather get a phone via contract since you don't need to shell out the $200+ for a non contract one and if the company wanted to they can turn around and increase their different pay as you go plants by $5 when ever they want and you have to pay for it. or find a new company to go with.

Ha, i could have gotten it for free with a contract :p It was like when amazon were doing the free palm pre's, fuck yeah, wait, contract, why would i buy that then? I guess the US must be slightly different to the UK, over here the general way is for near every phone to be free on a contract every day of the year, not because it's black friday.

I'm getting excited, my current 18 month contract expires in 2 days time :)

My 3 year contract ends next year in December. I might go for a iPhone or a Android phone and pay $0.00 when I do a 3 year contract.

So u actually payed 1 cent for the fone?
Yes, $0.01 plus the first months service and a $35 activation fee. I think it was $80-ish total? It gets here Monday, according to UPS. :-)

I think the Amazon deal is still good until Monday, as well.

And yea, I know its a contract phone. That's why it is $0.01. USUALLY they are still a few hundred dollars ON contract, and for *this* phones case, its more than just a few hundred dollars worth, its an iPhone equal (not to open up that can of worms, but you know, feature-wise and future compatibility and current capabilities-wise). Sure, the phone carrier could increase your rates, but that is under your agreement as a material change in service and YOU CAN TERMINATE IT IF THEY DO THIS WITHOUT ANY EARLY TERMINATION FEES -- Most customers are just too stupid to know that. ;) Any plan/pricing change that you dont want, you have the "option" to continue service with the new rules, or terminate it at your choice.

(Applies in USA & Canada, I have nooooooooooooooooo clue about the rest of the planet)

Yeah, the phone was a penny, but under contact you will pay around 2,000 for service for 2 years right. Not a good deal to me. I do google voice, sipdroid, pbxes and ipkall incoming line routed to my GV, and I have absolutely free service that doesnt cost me a dime and I paid 150 bucks off craigslist for the HTC booyaaaa. Sure, I dont rock 3g, 4g data whatev, I do free wi-fi at mcdonalds, if I missed your call, oops, Ill get back to you.

Sure the service sucks ass, and theres a delay, but I don't pay a penny. And I can still send texts, and pictures, it's awesome.

The best phone to buy, in my opinion, would be one that would suffer less depreciation over 2 years than any other phone. Then I guess after your contract is up after 2 years, you could sell the phone and try to re-coop costs.

I'm just cheap I guess, and I don't wanna give my money away just to make a phone call, ridiculous.
My phone plan is $60 a month............ I'm glad you can text and send pictures with delay? I had prepaid before and it sucked too. This was a nice upgrade. :) :)
