Just a basic lighting question

We have these plants, three to be exact, about an inch or so tall. Just wanted to know a standard lighting timing from this point. Nothing radical, just something to make them grow. This grow is just a trial and error one. ( Using flourescent plant grow lights) Or will 12 hrs on and 12 hrs off be fine?

for vegetative growth: 24/0, 20/4, and 18/6 are the standard recommendations.
for flowering: 12/12 is the most often recommended.

the gro light you use doesn't have the proper spectrum for pot plants. Get cfl's or even a cool blue tubed flourescent for vegging. get a fan on them to strengthen the stems, make sure you have them buried right up to the first set of leaves. you MUST either leave the lights on 24/7, or go with a 18 on/ 6 off setup. ONLY for flowering should you switch to a 12/12. water every 3-4 days, no nutes or fertz for the first 3 weeks then 1/4 strength at first then 1/2...
