Hello all, This is my very first grow, ive been reading up on this site for a couple weeks so hopefully i got the basics. Its in my room in a cabinet i have. Ive got 4 26w Daylight 6700K CFL and 1 30w 3500K CFL. There is also an 18" flor tube in there. It is lined with mylar wrapping paper. Its getting about 18/6. trying to get to full 24 hours buts it hard with work and i dont have a timer yet until payday. Im also freaked out about burning my house down. I have a probably 4 inch diametre hole in the top back left corner and a same size hole in the bottom back right side. The fan blows air right in there and the plants are moving and i can feel the cool air comin out the top. It gets warm in there. No hot at all. I also have to wait to get a thermometer. I have been giving them superthrive every three days with watering. I only plan on really growing 2 plants. The one in the lil pot grew up deformed and i cut it all up in the middle and now its growing all weird. Let me know what you think. I will be posting lots of pics, i tried to post a movie but it didnt work.

I am at DAY 13 since sprouting.

if you used potting soil you don't quite need any nutes yet as its very possible to ge nute burn so early.
so should I stop with the superthrive. I heard it was good to give it to em after u transfer to a bigger pot. they were all in a smaller pot until last night. sorry forgot to mention that

Okay so i just checked on them. On all three of them the leaves are starting to drop. I gave them superthrive this morning plus they were tranfered to a bigger pot the night before. I dont know which is causing this, im watering every three days with the superthrive. They also hae been under constant light since yesterday at 5pm. so almost 30 hours now. minus the time i was transfering them. Should i give them a break from the light???

You should keep your lights at a 18/6 schedule

How much superthrive are you giving them? 2 drops per gallon is enough... heck 1 drop per gallon is also enough... you just need a little bit.

Make some "humidity domes" for them... Clear plastic cups with a couple of breather holes at the bottom will work (check out my grow, I use plastic cups) They should make a huge deference.

Bring the light to the smaller pot on the left a little closer to the plant.

And have fun =]

Well the superthrive came with this instruction card and it sayd if your using on every water for seedlings you should use one drop per small glass of water.

With the domes will they still get the light they need?

Im turning off the lights until the morning. Its twelve now and i get up at six so Ill start that cycle.....someone told me that i should be doing 24 hours of light until they are 6-7 inches tall then switch to 12/12....

UPDATE:

SO the plants are doing much better today then yesterday, I finally went and bought a timer and thermometer. It about 85 in there. I set the timer for 18/6 like mentioned.

I think the plants leaves were drooping due to overwatering and too much superthrive. i put them outside today to dry up some of soil. It was 101 today so the soil dried up pretty good. Just fairly moist. After i put them back in the cabinet, about 5 hours later i checked on them and they are getting perky again.

A couple questions though.

Is that a good temp? The lights are set to turn off at night so hope fully it will drop some, i heard you should be about 10 degrees lower then day temp

When should i water again? Im scared to overwater them again and slow down the growth. The big pot is an 8 quart. How much water and superthrive should i give....if any. im using MG organic soil.

Thanks guys.

85* is great...

Clear plastic cups work great. I'm sure they don't get as much light as with out the domes.... but it doesn't matter cuz I all ready tested it out, and the plants with the domes did way better then with out... as soon as they out grow there domes and have a good root structure, they won't need the cups anymore and you'll be set.

If you think they need watering, first stick your finger in the soil about an inch... if it's dry an inch down, chances are they need watering, but if it's still moist, then I would wait... As you know, over watering is just as bad as under watering.

As for the super thrive... I would only give them a drop or 2 per gallon.... honestly at this early stage, you should be fine just using water.

Don't worry about over watering in one sitting.... over watering that causes damage is done when you water once... then you water again to soon (the next day). I would soak the surface of the soil and wait about 3 days to check the soil before watering again.

Thanks WOLFMAN. Im def going to try the cups.

As far as the superthrive.....im assuming i can put a drop in a gallon and not use the enitire gallon and reuse it later with same superthirve in it? Basically is the superthrive going to go "bad"?. I dont think i should put a whole gallon of water in the plant???

BTW I started a Journal (the right way) in the Journal Section, Here is a link. New pics in journel
