Jinally I get to start a journal.

Barking Mad

Well-Known Member
At last I have started my journal.
This is my first grow and I am trying to improve and add to it as I go along. I didn't take any pics during germination and am now 21 days into my grow.
Because
it's my first grow I'm using cheap seeds, they're a cross, grown locally (G13 pollinated by Abyss) .
There is one exception, 'Alice' (A.) which is a seed that I found in some bud I bought about a year ago. It's unusual to get bud with seed and even more unusual for it to be nice bud so I Kept it and germinated it about 5 days earlier than the rest. I had another odd seed that I started with it but that was my latest casualty. Here is a picture of my set-up.

I am using a 400w MH and have a 400w sodium for flowering, they run off the same ballast.
The soil I am using is 'BIOBIZZ ALL-MIX' It cost me £12 sterling (about $20/24 US)
Major constituents:
Peat Moss
Spaghnum peat
Worm casting
Perlite
Pre-mix

EC:2.4
pH 6.2-6.6
50ltr bag including 2.5ltr fertilizer

I have stopped using nutes in the water after getting some nute burn on the leaves.
I am using tap water. My tap water has a pH of 7.5 which is way too high so I let it stand for a day or so then reduce the pH to 6 by adding a few drops of lemon juice. I was going to flush all the plants but just did the three worst affected. For the others I will just continue giving them water with nothing added. There is plenty in the soil to feed these for the next couple of weeks. After that I will add the nutes again but on a smaller scale. I was adding 7ml per litre 'Ionic=Grow' but will start at about 3 or 4 ml next time and, just on one or two plants to begin with.

Now that I have discovered how to add thumbnails I have posted 2 close-ups of 'A' showing what I over-enthusiastically thought was signs of it being a girl. It has little white pistules that look a bit like hairs. It is in fact the new leaves coming through. They look totally different to all the others. I wish I knew what strain it is. It has nodes coming out all over the place.

I decided to put these on a new post, they are a few pics taken today, I am happy to report that the burn on the leaves seems to have stopped spreading. It isn't cleaning up at all and some leaves are past recovery I think but I will leave them all in situ for now.

Genie, is the plant in the clay pot. I needed to water it today, the others are all still holding moisture so I am waiting for the soil to dry before I water any of them.
I am trying to thnk up some good names for my brood. They are all labeled A,B,C etc so I will use that letter for the initial, example, A I have already named Alice, C Charlie, D, Dog and G,Genie J, Jay. I thought Flora would be good for F but I am trying to stay away from giving a girls name in case I bock them and get males. All the names Ive picked so far are unisex or have another meaning. Hopefully this will help me (and anyone who takes an interest) follow how they do individually.

Although I am not watering at the moment, I have been misting them every 24 hrs but I am concerned that it's not helping. I am just using water, (pH 6) and it has been standing for a couple of daysin 2ltr bottles, when the leaves dry, some of them have a white almost milky look. Is this possibly chlorine? What if I use a bottle of spring water to mist my plants, I will give it a go and see if it helps.

Things are still not 100%, a couple of plants have a leaf or two that is curling at the edges. Not sure what that is, - light too close?

I am thinking about topping a couple of the bigger ones, I don't think it's too soon but as they have suffered a little I may wait a bit longer.

After reading a bit more about nute burn I am leaning towards flushing the plants on thier next watering the only thing is, the best looking plants are the ones that have not been flushed yet, tough decision.

My next task is to set up a co2 bottle, just a home made jobby for now.

The picture is Genie, depending on the number of females I get, I might use this for cuttings.

Temperatue has been 80+ all day today and I am struggling to get it down. I have raised the light about 6" and it hasn't gone above 80 since but it is still too hot! I hope I can solve this soon.
