Wal-mart and Home Depot. I think it was about $12.

Jet, I like the setup, man. Pretty ingenius. Your plants look good but are a little stretched. As someone else pointed out, you want to get the plants closer to the lights, about 2". Also, you want to add some side lighting as well, that would help with the stretching. My biggest concern about your grow is the density of the buds you'll get. I don't think you are getting sufficient light down into the canopy. You may want to consider a SOG or simply cut back the smaller branches lower down on the plants. This way, they will focus their energies on the main colas. Where are you venting your smell to and are you scrubbing it at all?

This is my first grow, so I was more worried about keeping the plants alive.

As for the smell, it's just venting to the room currently. There isn't anything noticeable yet, so I won't slap on the carbon filter until then.

I was thinking about side lighting, but I am going to wait until next grow.

yup
get the cfl's as close to the plants as possible without burning them.
I agree 2" is acceptable as long as you have good air flow.

Make sure you have complete darkness.
If possible get inside grow area with lights off and check for leaks.

Looking good so far.
Good luck

I'm totally going to copy your set up man. But i think i might use a bigger container so i can grow 3-4 so I'll end up with at least 2 females. I'm thinking 4 42watt cfls making over 10k lumens should do the trick. Very smart stealth idea. Mad props to you sir

Some pics from tonight. I was away for a couple days and the plants had grown into the lights and caused some damage. :(

However, I got that problem all fixed up and now they have another 6" of grow room (before the final height reduction). They seem to to be coming along really nicely. I don't even have the filter hooked up yet (there is no smell as of yet). In fact, I'm using the exhaust air to dry my towels from my morning showers. Heh.

I can't believe it's been this long already! Things seem to be coming along well for my very first grow. Goes to show what some research can do for ya. :blsmoke:

The lot of them.

Some close ups.

He has only 2!

Jet, they look great so far! They are so bushy, I don't think you have any room in there for side lighting. I still think given that you only have above lighting, you'll want to prune any lower bud sites. With the limited light reaching down into the canopy, those buds are going to be tiny and airy. I'd prune them and let the plant focus all of its bud-making energies on those top buds that are getting the most light. You'll have nice big colas all over! It's the one thing I regret not doing on my grow - I should have topped, FIMed or LSTed mine then gotten rid of those smaller buds lower down. I'd trade those smaller airy buds for fewer bigger, thicker colas anyday.

I have a question, how are the fans wired? Are they just hooked right up to an outlet? A battery? Won't they just blow out? They look great btw!
