The lid is always on to keep it light/smell proof, and it 2 containers not one, and ur right, I am running out of room even though I threw them into flower to take into account them possibly tripling in height, I am actually about to go get a screen and some tubing to scrog them cause I can't let them get any taller. lol. Thanx for reading and chiming in, and if u do end up doing a rubbermaid, I hope some of my trials and tribulations help you out, lol.

Well as I said earlier the girls were getting way to damn tall, so I pulled then out for their last LST session. Tied them all down and made the heights the same on all 3 girls, the middle one is really bent and twisted lol I have a feeling she loves it though. I also got some mesh wire 1" holes ( I know 2x2" is whats recommended by everything i've read, but I couldn't find any and my girls aren't big, the foliage and everything is bonsai'd pretty much so I think i'll be fine) and cut it to be a little bigger than the hole it's going over, that way I only had to bend it and get it to stay put, it's in there really tight. I know this cause one of the chains for the light got stuck in it and when I was opening the lid it was pulling really hard on the screen and it didn't budge. Also to facilitate easier watering due to the new screen, I got some clear plastic tubing, a wooden dowel, and a funnel and taped the tubing to the dowel so I can just stick it through the screen to water, it's gonna be WAY easier now than before. Now that I just wrote all that down it doesn't feel like I did that much but i've been running around getting stuff and working on the girls all damn afternoon lol. Anyways, the girls are nice and green and looking strong. Here are the pix. O I think i'll have a nice, even canopy now, it's looking really good. O that last pic is from when I cut my finger on that damn wire, i'm really putting blood and sweat into this box ;)

Hope this works, my first attempt at multi-quoting lol, I AM getting anxious, lol, though I try to not cause I know I have another month and a half till I cut the girls down, not to mention the 9 days of drying, then another 9 days of curing, lol. Dude I totally feel you on that tears part, coming home and seeing they were nute deficent was really crappy. But what can you do? lol

I know the subject title sounds ominous, but ok, you know how my box is 2 rubbermaids stacked ontop of eachother? Okay here's the deal. The bottom half is low 80's, and the top half above the screen, no foliage up there yet, only the lights, the top half is like 109! I cut another passive inlet in the top half and that's lowered the temps a few degree's, hold up lemme go look, it's been a few hours... well I just checked the temps, it's 82, but they've been in their dark period for 54 mins, so i'm sure that's why (don't worry, I didn't let light in the box to mess with them) and I know that right now it's not a big deal, but when the buds push through the screen, the buds will be exposed to those really high temps, and they don't have any more space to vent and/or grow (sorry I'm drunk, hope that makes sense) not really sure what to do about this, again, the temps are low 80's below the canopy in the bottom box, and above the canopy in the top box where the lights are the temps are like 109. I'm thinking that the only thing I can do pretty much is get ANOTHER fucking fan and rig that up opposite of the new inlet hole to suck the hot air out from below the lights. I don't wanna do that, I mean the charger I have can handle the additional amps and everything, and I guess another fan will be only like 15 bucks, but I DON'T WANNA DO THAT, lol, I will I guess if I have to, but, If I put another fan opposite of the inlet, that means I'll have to put some sort of carbon scrubber over that, which'll be weird to do, if you know what I mean... FUCK, i'm wasted and have been drinking for hours, and any and ALL help will be welcomed. I've read many rubbermaid journals, and I don't think i've ever heard of heat issues like this. Maybe I should take some bulbs out? But I don't really wanna do that cause i've just started flower you know? But I bet if I did that, it would eliminate alot of the heat. Shit this is a rambling ass post, sorry been drinking, I hope somebody can give me some advice. Thx.

Well I went and got another fucking fan, cut a hole out of the top of the box and screwed it in, wired it in and plopped another of those DIY scrubbers I made out of tupperware. So far the temp above the canopy is 92 but'll keep ya posted. Some leaves got a lil burned on the far right plant. I raised all the lights so that none of them are resting on the screen, I think that may have been part of the prob, lights touching the screen and heating up the metal then that metal radiating heat all over. I also took out a few inches of carbon in the scrubbers cause the plants aren't stinking to bad, and I think that it was making it to hard for the fans to blow out through all that. Am I tripping to much over the heat in the top maid? Below the screen it's low to mid 80's. And I think i'm doing all that I possibly can do about this. I took a few pix as well just to show the new can and inside the screen. Only one flower is starting to poke through the screen, but there are several more that are getting close to pushing through as well. I'm thinking also that after I move in a few months i'm just going to turn the box into a mother box and get a wardrobe or a cabinet and make that my main grow space. The maid is just to damned hard to work in, and it's way easier to do work in there when you've got a few veg plants in there. Plus with everything i've learned and researched recently I just think that would be easier. I'd also then be able to stock like 3 strains in the box and just clone em up in the wardrobe. Or I might just get one of those damn 350 watt cfl's with a hood. Cause then i'd not have to worry about all those cords and different heights of all the bulbs, that's another thing making this so hard. From the top of the main light fixture to the tip of the bottom cfl it's like 9 inches which is also taking up alot of my grow space. Anways here are the pix.

Well I was looking inside the box and saw that there was 2 bulbs that weren't really providing any direct light to plants, so I took them both out, they were both 65k's, so shouldn't hurt to much, and hopfully those 2 bulbs will make a difference in the heat. I'll check on the box again in like 2 hours to see what it did and update then.

Jealous,

slick grow. If you could do it all over again would you use the bigger CFL's instead of the 27w? you said you have sealed the bottom tub so do you take the top rubbermaid off when your gardening any pics of that would be great. How are your carbon filters working with the plants? sorry for all the ?'s just interested in your setup.

Yea if I started over knowing what I know now, plus what I learned in another thread I started, I would def have invested in a reflector hood and gone with a single 200 Watt bulb. I sealed the lid of the bottom maid to the bottom of the top maid and cut a hole through. That way I can access from the bottom by lifting the bottom lid, and from the top by lifting from the top lid. The carbon filters seem to be doing great as far as I can tell, no smell, but I do smoke cigarettes and can't usually smell shit anyways lol. Here's a few pix I just took for you.

Well, the girls have definatly stopped their upward climb, no vertical growth in a few days, but the flowers are getting more developed. I've totally noticed a differance in the flowers since yesterday. They're all still below the screen except for the one poking through. Despite the higher temps in the top maid they all seem to be doing great, no new heat burns since I adjusted the lights yesterday, and since they aren't getting taller, hopfully i wont have to fuck with that as much anymore.
