Hey Bam and SE, I was checking out the temp in the area that I'll be able to devote to shroomery and it seems to fluctuate between the mid 50s and the mid 70s. That would be anywhere from a 10 to a 30+ degree drop for the fruiting. That's cool right?

I'm not sure if that is too cold or not. Mine get down to the mid sixties. If anything, it will just slow your growth down. I would just place a heat mat under them (tank and such). Hope that helps!? Had a rocking B-day yesterday!

Hey, it be all good. I know what it's like being busy. Work is always more important. So did you get to play in the snow?

no snow.. no psychadelia either :(

lots of work... and I'm running out of herb.

should harvest this week a plant that has been dubbed Crimson Mountain Kush by a good friend. The parents are a Headband female and a Sugar Mountain male. unfortunatly this little bitch is a hermaphrodite that shows up at about 7 1/2 weeks of bloom so the name is superfluous. I don't intend to keep her around.

I'll put up pics soon. :eyesmoke:

you should wait till it is full down from the dry verm line (usually the fist 1/2" on top or so where little growth takes place). Once that is the case, heck yeah. Pop them out as they are good. I usually place mine in the fridge for a night, then in a cool water bath (submerged) for 24 hours, then into the fruiting chamber.

The nexus jar has no dry verm at the top. Just a quarter sized patch on the bottom of gray verm. The rest is just one big white ball of mycelium.

This is a cross between Headband Kush and Sugar Mountgain.

A sharp eye will reveal the hermaphrodite flowers in the pics. :-( such is the reason this plant isn't going to be kept in rotation.

This flower is ripe after about 8 1/2 weeks of bloom. Very Indica/Afghani dominant. Flowers have that classic "kush" smell.. kind of lemony diesel sort of goodness. This pheno displays a sweet floral overtone that is similar to gardenia blossoms. The flavor is very pleasant with a smooth earthy flavor that is classic kush. The high is very potent and narcotic. It is a night time smoke for sure with a great medicinal sleep aid effect. Also works well for pain reduction.

My endeavor into mycology has been my reason for neglecting this thread. I've harvested headband, AK48, trainwreck, two different headband crosses, and more SensiStar.

I've been paying more attention to the upcoming second flush of the Z strain fungus, the 1st flush of the nexus strain that us now kicking in, and the near total colonization of my B+ jar. Mushroom tea over the weekend sent me off nicely.
