Jars for the PF Tek

Hey, I can't find the right type of jar for the pf tek. I've tried getting some before but due to false advertising, they weren't wide lip...any links for amazon or walmart jars?

If worse comes to worse you can use your 500ml mason jar, with shoulders i believe your describing , and if you can't shake it out you can use a cooled, sterile spoon and just scoop it into your casing or substrate spawn. Its what I did and pulled out some mighty nice boomers.

A cheap and effective alternative is to use wide mouthed whiskey glasses make a lid from tinfoil held on with a rubber band. injections are done through the foil and the holes covered with micropore tape.

Ball or Kerr wide mouth jars are preferred as you know... and many stores don't carry them... just the ones with the annoying shoulder... but take the posted advice above seriously, these guys are the empirical mycelium heads

I just bought 12-8oz preserve jars at Walmart. Wide mouth, tapered about $9.

You actually purchased them at walmart... inside the store or on their website?

Yep....right inside the store in the housewares dept.

i use half pint REGULAR lid jars. for pf cakes.
they dont have a shoulder, and are tapered, and work just fine.

i use wide mouth quarts for grains.

Ok, ive heard to stick to the tek, but I guess I'll give it a go with shouldered...I mean the only point of wide mouth is for easier removal, right? By the time you actually take the cake out, cutting it wouldnt disturb the colony...

Just not a clump thats perfectly fitted like a mason jar!

All that should be worried about is that the utensil you used when scooping out... is washed, upon cleansed, upon sterilized!

I couldn't get mason jars at Wal-Mart, Lowes, or HD. In my area they only carry them durring canning season (I didn't even know there was a specific season). I had to order from doitbest.com . Luckily since there was a store near me shipping was free. I bought 24 half pint, wide-mouth jars for $15.

Never had a single contam.
