So, so far the 2 Deep Blues have sprouted a little tail, and are now in some perlite micro-hempys for seedling phase.

I've opted for the simple seed-in-water germination technique this time around, but so far it's been 3 days and none of the others are showing signs of life...

Is there a probability that I may "DROWN" them?? lack of oxygen? Should I have gone with the paper towel method? Or do I wait it out and they will eventually pop?
Yep, I think you drowned them. :D Sprouting seeds is something I do well. I get about 90% and most pop within 3 days.
Try something simular to this: Do not soak seeds first. Use a heating pad on low, a deeper plastic container and a one 1 inch rockwool cube for each plant soaked in water and put inside the container: Add enough water to just touch the rockwool. Just dampen a paper towel. Add the seeds, fold and lay paper towel on top of the rockwool cubes. The cubes will act like a wick to pull moisture up to the towel. Put container on heating pad set to low and cover with a dishtowel(not a plastic lid). Check once a day. When a seed pops remove a soaked rockwool, add seed and put it back in the container someplace it isn't covered by the paper towel. Keep container covered with dishtowel. As soon as they sprout out of the cube I'll move it to another part of the heating pad with a CFL.

Thanks guys!

Looking back I realize I made some major rookie mistakes. That's what happens when you relax for a season haha
Growing is like riding a bike, but a very sensitive bike, that blows up when you pedal too hard. xD

Anyway, I'm hoping for a female with this lonesome seedling. And I've popped in a fem auto I had lying around for some time. Hijack. Let's see if that works out.. =P

Finally some good news.

So after killing off a bunch of seeds in a frenzied n00b rage, I finally decided to stop, think, and go the route I've gone before instead.

Germinating seeds is so simple after all... xD

I don't think the Deep Blue will grow up to be much of a plant, and it's been through so much stress at an early age I wouldn't be surprised if it hermied...

Anyway here are the new contenders...

Oh look, I even left the "Name" text without noticing. xD

1x Psycho Killer
1x Dog
1x Cinderella99
1x Jack the Ripper

Check those freaky white tips.

All settled into some newly made hempy buckets, roughly 90% Perlite and some residual Vermiculite.

(Vermiculite gets blasted away when you wash the medium for re-using)

Also, this time I made some light blockers so my perlite doesn't turn green from algae.

The 4 babies are under this baby!

Of the lot, only the C99 is a FEM seed.

So, the Haven has officially launched a new growing season!! Fingers crossed for a beautiful grow and plentiful harvest! =)

Hey, I popped more seeds too. I put down 6 of the Sleestack x Ilha ;) Has this ever been grown out before?
haha! AWESOME!! I feel honoured!! haha
And I really hope you get a nice phenotype girl among the group! It's a highly unstable strain and it could output either the branchiest beast you've ever seen or the lankiest noodle plant. Fingers crossed!

Also, would it be too much to ask you to post some pics along the way on this thread if you happen to get them popped and started? I'd love to have a record of whatever comes out of those seeds! =)

Absolutely. :) Will do for sure, the least I could do in return for them. Do you want to make up a name for them I can call them for the grow. You can think about it.

Nah, not yet. They aren't a stable thing yet =P

I'd rather give them a name once they grow out xD (if they happen to turn out into lovely plentiful plants haha)

Ilha is Portuguese for Island. Cuz those seeds originally came from an island, and I then crossed them with a Sleestack plant.

You could call them Pico Stack. or Sleesland. Or Mountain Stack.

Mountain Stack would be brutal =) specially if you get some nice native aphrodisiac phenos (which you should haha)

SO, another happy update is due =)

Throughout the last few couple of days I've been wondering if I'd be working with 2 plants as opposed to the 4 plants that started out.
I say this because one of them was growing strange deformed first true leafs and was making me think it was a mutant. And the other didn't even have the little bud that eventually turns into the frist true leafs. (you can see this in the last photo update)
I am speaking of the JtR and the PK respectively.

Anyway, I tended to them with care and patience, double checking PH levels and being sure to not be overwatering the babies.

Also, I turned on another COB, so now the Haven is running 100w of pure 4000k light =)

Turns out love and patience DO PAY OFF. haha
The little ones turned it all around and as I opened the tent today (after a few days without looking at them) I was greeted by these happy fellows =)

9.jpg 10.jpg

The (almost) mutant threw out some new and healthy looking greens for us! And the little PK finally fought through the tight starting bud and we already have the first true leafs spreading out =)

I'm a happy guy.

And I guess I'll be working with 4 plants after all!

P.S.- jig, did any of the seeds germinate? do we have liftoff? can you start posting some nice development pics? =)

Topping Update!

Yesterday I decided it was time to top off all of the plants. I pinched out their tops and ate them! (yummyyyy!!:weed:)

And I discovered a few things about my plants... (appart from the fact that some taste really spicy! ahahahaha)

11.jpg 12.jpg

The c99 was topped as per the UncleBen Topping technique where from one cut you will get 4 colas (sort of a step down from mainlining, but faster)

The DoG was topped in a similar fashion, but it has even more lower nodes (which I will pinch out later) but it could be trained into a 6 cola bush if I really wanted, I guess

The PK surprised me because it topped itself when it sprouted, and now as you can see from the pic, one of the tops is growing as a dominant node and the other one is finally unraveling in a smaller mutant looking node... I decided to not touch the unraveling one just to see what it'll turn into, but I pinched of a generous bit of the healthy node and I think it might work out as a FIM if I'm lucky haha

The JtR is the most special of them all. Because it started off as sort of a mutant, when it finally stabilised it wound up with a twin looking main branch. I'd noticed it was a bushy plant but I didn't see why. So now that I topped it I and see that 6 leafs are growing from the same level node!!! so if all goes right, this topping should result in 6 main colas! (fingers crossed on that one! haha)

And that's that for now! I changed the disposition around so the smaller plant is closer to the air intake, so it get the most freshest air first. And I've just filled the hempy reservoirs. Now we wait for a nice recovery!

Also, I'm sad to say I finally finished my Cheese stash up. All 110g of it. =P I gave some of it off to friends and such, but still, that's quite a bit of smokables gone.
Now I'm back stuck to some hard ass bubble hash untill I have a new harvest.

Let's hope form more than 110g this time! xD

Training update!

Growth is steady. All of them took the topping nicely!

13.jpg 14.jpg

I like how really unique each one of them is turning out! And I really hope I get a full feminine house!

The PK is the most interesting right now, I bent it to the side to force the auxins into the lowest branch first. If it goes well It'll end up with quite an interesting frame! (4 main tops)

The JtR responded to the topping throwing out 7 "main" branches instead of the 4 I was looking for. A seven cola plant sounds good to me!

The Dog is vigorous! It's got the darkest green I've ever grown. 3 of the tops are much more dominant over the 4th, so I tied them down tight. Hopefully I'll manage the 4 similar colas on it.

The c99 is my favourite because it's a feminized seed, so I know what to most likely expect. I've grown this strain before and loved it. In a way I'm hoping for a different pheno.
It was going to be a 6 top plant, but I broke off the new shoot when I was attaching the training wire. Hence this shall too be a 4 headed creature.

And now we play the waiting game.
