I've got $30! Spend on light spreader or light raiser?

I'm on a budget and need your advice! Would you spend $30 on a light spreader (1000W HPS for 4x5 area in NFT re-circ hydro) a la the Super Spreader

OR

would you spend it on a light raiser/hanger that would make raising/lowering hoods a breeze? I currently have to drag a ladder in and raise chain by chain throughout the cycle and because of the hassle, the hoods don't always get raised when they should.

Which do you think would bring me a better return on my $30?:eyesmoke:

be careful with those yo-yo hangers. If your hood is too heavy , your light could fall and damage your girls.

I have both super spreaders and the Pro Grip 'rope ratchets'.

If it was one or the other, I use the Pro Grip's almost daily and it is a breeze to raise and lower lights.

These are NOT yo yo hangers! Don't waste your money on them!

Rope Ratchet is an actual company that makes industrial tie downs and the like. The light fixture hangers are probably the smallest thing they make. LOL

These are distributed by Sunlight Supply, part#710114. I got mine off ebay for ~$15 shipped. Ended up getting 3 pair, they worked so well. With the 1kw, you might want the next largest size. Mine are good for 150Lbs/pair, or 75Lbs each.

I'm running a large Adjust-A-Wing with a 400w HPS and 400w MH, both with super spreaders. Never run it without, so I really can't compare with or without.

use the ratchets. they sell them at the hydro store. hydro farm makes them and cost about $20. they are so easy to use. i lift the light all the time because these things are so easy and they hold a lot.
