Quick update,

Things are progressing very very nicely. Looks like the lime has finnaly buffered out most of my ph issues (with i think one exception) and buds and pistols are forming left and right!. Its hard to belive, but I popped 10 seeds. 8 became plants, 2 got left behind as runts and the 6 left were female! Count me one happy DB!

Pics on Wednesday, It will be 2 weeks since the flip, 1 week of flower.

Alrighty, so I just took my first cuttings ever. I took 5 from the indicas, which i think are the Double Gum from what ive been reading, and 3 from the Sativa. If these root, i will be PSYCHED.

I mixed up my usual 2 parts happy frog + 1 part perlite then added 1/2 cup of dolomite lime. I ment it to be only 1/4 cup, but i screwed up the tablespoon = cup ratio. I cut drainage wholes in 10oz solo cups and filled them with the mix and watered.

I tried to put ziplocks over the top as humidity domes, but it felt like i was doing more harm then good, so i left them be. I put them in my vegbox and jacked the lights up. I have them under 4 23watt cfl at about 1.5 ft away. If these take, ill call it my third grow and they should be heading into the flower room just as the others come out. Fingers crossed.

Well, after a rocky paranoid start, things seem to be moving right along now. I have been feeding them sparingly, still afraid of the ph problems, but they have gotten 2 applications of 1tsp of tigerbloom/gallon and 1 application of 1 tbsp big bloom + 1 tsp Tigerbloom. Its hot up there and the pots are small, so we are talking over the past week they have gotten 6 waterings and 3 of them were with 1/4 nutes. I also took a few leaves off each of the sativa that i thought were getting in the way of light getting to the buds. Just a few.

Ill shut up and post now

The Sativas. Sativa 3 doesnt look like much, but ill do what i can with her. 1 and 2 look like they will be champs.

My Indicas, i think these are the double gum. They do not have much in the way of buds right now, but i have read she takes a long time to finish. I hope its that and not something wrong.

Some family pics for good measure, also shows the side/bottom lighting i added.

Looking nice DB. Looks like you have the ph issue sorted out. Do you use a cal/mag supplement? Really helps with nute uptake and overall plant maintenance in my experience.

Girls look to have nice node spacing and should fill in very well. Subbed up. Peace.

Hey Stone, thanks for stopping by,

I haven't thus far, but mainly because i used a TON of lime to sort out the ph issue. I figured that would have the cal in it? I also hit it with bit of epsom a little while ago. But i think i may go out and grab some calmag and clearx, because my last grow was ruined by a misdiagnosed cal def late in flower.

Well, botanicare is really cool! They allow you to order samples. Not sure how big they are, but given i use less then a tablespoon at a time in most cases who cares? 16 bucks and i get to try thier clone gel, clearex, Calmag plus and sweet berry!

So things are moving right along. The sativas have burned tips at the tops of the plants. I am fairly sure it's heat stress so I've adjusted things a bit. If it keeps up ill toss an ac unit in the outer room, that should take care of it. Some of the plants are producing way better then others, but I think that is to be expected with all the stress I put them through. Just starting to see the first tinges of tricomes forming on the top leaves.

most of the cuttings are not dead yet, ha. I have no idea how to tell if they have taken or not other then they haven't wilted yet, well two have. I don't think I see any new growth. I Am really hoping the sativa cuttings root, they are from what looks to be the best plant in the room at this point, though I suspect the indicas will start looking pretty sexy by week 3.

As always, Wednesday will be update day. Pics then. Hopefully be a little frost.

I couldn't help myself. I just had to know if these clones were working or not.. I took one i thought was wilted tugged on it, it came right out, but there were little nubby white roots!! They still may not take, i definatly do not expected the one i messed with to, but it looks like its working.

If it works im going to do a half single plant lst/half 4 plant sog. might see if i can make a mommy too. If i get 2 sativa clones to root, ill put one in a 3 gallon pot under the 150 and lst it, and another into a slightly smaller pot and try to make a mommy. up to 4 of the indica clones will go under the other 150 sog style

Wish me luck folks.

Quick update: Yesterday i did a bit of pruning. I cleaned up a lot of popcorn and dying leaves from the last 10in of the plant. Also clipped any leaves older then 2 weeks that i thought were getting in the way of light. Its really crowded, i know a lot of folks do not believe in pulling fan leaves but the buds really respond to the extra light.

Today they got a feeding after about 6 days of plain water. I gave them 1 tbsp of big bloom and 2 tsp of tiger bloom in a gallon of water.

Clones still aint dead! Yippy!

Pic update tomorrow at 14 days of flower.

I fully believe in giving my girls a trim. Never too much at a time but it always helps out in the end IMO. Looking forward to the update.

Hi All,

Count me a happy DB. The girls seem very happy, the clones seem about the same. I have some work ahead of me as right now they are raised up off the floor by about a foot, and they have maxed out that space. I need to get them on the floor and lower the lights. And now...

The Indicas:

The Sativas:

So I seem to be blessed and cursed by good fortune. Remember those two runts that got left behind when flower started? Well for shits and giggles i threw em into the flower room. I was going to just chop and toss em, but i figured what the hell. They are both female! Man did i get lucky. The problem with the plants is how they are potted. I think that i some how screwed up the perlite/soil ratio, and the happy frog being peat based just got packed down with the frequent waterings (i run in small containers, in a hot room). Thus has caused thier growth to be very slow. But now that they are female i am much less interested in tossing them, especially since i think they are both of the double gum type.

The only way to keep these plants healthy is to repot them, but my other 6 still have 6 or more weeks to finish, and these will have at least 8. I just do not have the room for them.

I think my options are:
1. repot, top, reveg, lst. But I only have room for 1 of them.
2. cut the first 3 nodes off the top and try to clone them for the clone run. I could do this to both
3. leave em, and just see what happens in the shitty pots with the limited light. .

Thoughts?

Hey Everyone (or stone, as i think you are the only one who reads this besides me lol),

Week 3 and i am happy db. Check it out

Sativas:

Indicas (Double gum, without a doubt now):
3wf-indica1.jpg3wf-indica2.jpg3wf-indica3.jpg

The clones are doing better. I lowered the light and a few of em perked right up and started new growth. 2 died, more might be on the way. The one by itself is set for my LST run. Its from the sativa that looks to have the highest yield

clones.jpg

Got my Botanicare samples in the mail today.. Can't wait to try it out. I am going to flush the pots with the clearx, then water a few times, then givem some calmag + sweetberry

Looking great DB. Nice healthy green and bulking up great.
Thanks Stone! Thanks SmokeOurLyfAway69!

So the clones will be going into #1 pots on sunday or monday. The indica's are going directly into the flower room. The sativa is going to veg a little and start LST. It will eventually go into the 16in pot, where i will be trying out the "around the rim" lst. These clones will be my third grow.

I also got a pretty decent bag recently. Nothing special, but in my mind its because of the way it was grown and processed. The taste, structure, high were all decent, just needing some TLC i think. So i germed up 4, they all cracked and were planted within 48hours and they are called JB. This is my 4th grow.

If i get any males, ill keep em, seletect a star, and pollinate the clones.

I changed out all 8 23watt cfls in the grow box and adjusted the veg light a little so it spreads more light to the middle of the box. Still dont know if I can put viable plants there, but it might make a good place to put starting clones.

Oh, and as to this current grow, here is what I call the star of the show. Its a top shot of my best double gum.

Forgot to mention I am also trying a new soil blend. I am using 40% Lobster Compost, 40% Perlite and 20% Peat moss. I put the seeds in this new mix. Not too sure about it yet. It seems really airy, but when i watered there was no run off like i get with the HF(60)/Perlite(40) mix. I know you need to water compost a lot less, so hopefully this is why.. I can not imagine it having problems getting air with 40% perlite in there.

Hi all,

Technically i guess this is my third grow, but since my second was aborted due to a temporary roommate, ill call this my second ;)

Stats
------------------------------
Seeds: 5 bagseed, 5 White Lable Double Gum
Medium: Happy Frog/Perlite 3/1
Pots: .7gallon
Nutes: Foxfarm 3
Lights: 12x26watt home made cfl for veg
2x150 watt Mini Sunburst hps
Veg Box: A wardrobe box from the big orange store
Flower room: 2x4x4 area under the lights (see below)

The Story So Far:
------------------------------
I popped all 10 of these guys from a paper towel and planted them in the first week of April. The bagseed was from some amazing stuff i had some years ago, the White Label i got from Attitude about a year ago. I planted them in #2 nursery pots from the big orange store, which are about .7 gallon. 8 came up as plants. I intend to keep them in these pots, and keep the plants small as i am height limited in the flower room. They have had a rough childhood with heat, lights, super low ph, nute lock out and nitrogen overload all at once! I even burnt them with some water on the leaves. Basically every mistake i made in my first grow i vowed not to make again. I guess i should smoke less..

anyway. Tonight they go to bed at 7, and wake up tomorrow at 7, so welcome to day 1 of 12/12.

Here they are in the vegbox:

Here is my empty flower room, white wall cover and a gym box on a set of milk crates. This is the "lowest" setting for my lights so i am propping them up on the milk crates and will lower the plants/raise the lights as appropriate. I have a 6in can filter hooked up to a 240cfm 6in Fan
View attachment 2648171

Here they are (6 of 8, see below) in their new home just after lights out:
View attachment 2648185

So there are two stragglers. They are about 2 inches shorter then the others. It could have been the PH, it could have been the heat, i don't know, it may have been because they were in the center of the vegbox with no direct light? i would have expected them to stretch in that case. I think somehow the ratio of perlite to soil got screwed up and they are having a hard time. It seems they take longer to dry out and are denser then the others. Might also be my imagination. For now they are under direct light in the vegbox while i decide to repot or not.
View attachment 2648194

So that is it for now, welcome to day 1 of 12/12 on my grow.

I am all about the science guys, so fire away, i am a big strong newb and i can take it :) Plus all the smoke dulls the punches a bit.

The bud will be with you, always,
DB
Hell Yea bro!!
