Is using Mylar worth the cost and hassle of putting up? Alternatives?

Mylar is best. Depending on situation, flat white paint.

If you can't use mylar, then panda will be just as problematic.

Being a retired graff artist, I could recommend some cans, but I won't. For cost purposes, get a quality roll-on flat white for a large room, or a flat-white can of rustoleum for a small space. Rusto flat is spectacular paint in any situation, and their newer caps (nozzles) work and spread wonderfully even for those who have never sprayed paint in their life.

I wondered the same thing. I was going to purchase the nice rolls of Mylar and then I remembered from a running race that they handed out "space blankets". Made from none other than: Mylar! Picked up an 8 pack for like $10-not as smooth as a hydroponic shop roll but it seems to be working-I've used flat white in the past-it works well and if your using a closet it probably already is flat white :) dunno if my space blankets are the best but they sure reflect well!
