Just an open question regarding the appearance of parallels between the path the United States is on and what happened in National Socialist Germany regarding if this appears to be the path that the United States is heading down.

That's an interesting article. I enjoyed it, but fail to see the need for all these comparisons. I hear a lot of people saying, "Obama reminds me of Hitler or Benito or Chavez" and wonder what the point of such statements are. Obviously, the use of people or parties with mostly negative connotations is an attempt to carry the negativity over to the object of comparison. However, logic does not allow undistributed middles. If Obama is enacting similar policies to Hitler, then it certainly does not mean he will turn into an object of evil, as Hitler was. And it certainly does not mean he is doomed to fail. Take Hitler out of the equation in these comparisons and they lose their salience. Why is that? Hmmmmm........

I like the news source, however.

can't anyone give some credit to stalin and exploit his name to grab attention? i mean he killed close to 50,000,000 of his own people. i think he earned it damnit. its always hitler hitler hitler.

Lol, and now you're being eurocentric and leaving out poor Mao, who killed between 35 Million and 40 Million Chinese (maybe even more) during the "Great Leap Forward."

I wonder if Mao, Stalin and Hitler are all fighting over who was the biggest douche in Hell.

hey i'm not dissing mao. its just that i always wonder why stalin is never used as the poster-dictator. i mean, he clearly took the gold medal.

didn't stalin kill 50-80 million?? and whats going on now with out government is exactilly what happened in germany, except we are going at an uber slower pace IMO to get the people used to whats happening and get them to actually support it. all the democrats think socialism is a good thing! hello thats 40% of the us, democrats. socialism is bad, it doesnot work, it is the middel transsision stage between a republic and communism! and we "want change". oh we'll get change. a global population decrese of 80% change

No! ur bugs are going to have me under my covers crying!

and im not really worried cos at the rate were going we have time, and even if the walls crashed in i know im not a target, and if i were i can "disappear" as it were and nobody would ever find me who means to do me harm. Ive been researching countries to flee to if it gets to bad. :hump:

The point of the comparisons is to prove the thesis, which is, that America is Headed to Socialism. Nowhere does the author indicate that Obama is evil, the article does not even compare Obama and Hitler on a personal level. As for failure, that, of course, would be subjective....but the article is not trying to prove that National Socialism, or Obama by extension, will "fail"....that should be a given ;)

machievelli had nothing to do with the "art of war". I call bullshit folks. M. was prob most famous for "The Prince", which is an amazing work in its own right. Art of war was Sun Tzu (supposedly), dating back to 500 B.C. who is to say who or how many philosophers and military strategists collaborated or didnt is up for debate. I hope that was just a major snaffoo on DR whats his names part.

we are supposed to be a republic, but every day we are moving closer and closer to socialism. we are moving to a sea of mediocrity where everyone makes within a certain price range no matter what ya do.
what obamas policies are doing are punishing you if your a hard working successful person and rewarding you if your not. i mean there's a mountain of evidence supporting the fact that we are becoming a socialist America

Some people have no problem with this. If it doesn't work, we'll try something else. If it works, then great! You act as though socialism is literally the spawn of the devil. "I'm forced to help other people through paying taxes!!! Oh my GOD!!!" Well, you've been doing this your whole life. This is not Obama's creation. Clinton had the highest tax rate of any president in recent history and look at the economy he created. Granted, he was working with the bubble, but still. If Obama's policies fail, then the people will vote him out on 2012. It's that simple.
