Is this safe?

Would it be safe for me to have a 250w HPS/MH, 4" S&P fan and a oscillating fan going into a 2 plug socket in a bedroom? My house has 220v.

I was thinking of having the light and exhaust fan on seperate timers, then plug into a surge protector and then the surge protector plug going into the bedroom socket.

How does this sound?

as long as you don't over load the circuit amps your good. Most home circuits are 15 amp except the dryer one. So to figure out amps you take watts divided by volts, w/e=a

Standard outlets are rated at 15 amps, so there should be no issues with that at all. In fact you could run a 600 watt off of it. Watch the surge protectors though, the cheap ones usually have a very low rating to them, may spend some money and get one with a timer built in (can find at the hydro shop) and then run things that will always run (the oscillating fan etc) on a powerstrip on the other plug.

For sure, I ran into this running a 1k heater in the basement on a 750joule rated surge protector from the dollar store, surge protector failed after a few hours. Don't buy surge protectors from the dollar store! There are a lot of good options on the Lowes website (not so much the Home depot site), but get one with a nice high joule rating.

Lol don't buy anything that should cost more than a dollar at the dollar store.
