Is this possible?

What if you had a plant. Known female for the sake of it. Vegged it, Cut the top off and put rooting gel on it (the actual plant not cutting) and had it grow roots and trained it arch and planted that end in another pot like an arch.

Check it out, my awesome quick drawing...

The possibility of this working just seems awesome. But doubtful. I don't even know if you can root the top like that.

Thoughts?

Looks like the Mcdonalds arch

Whats the purpose of doing this,if you were to train the plant & have it bent downward to the height where you could stick the cut end in a planter it might work, you'd have to tie down the cut end real good for it to have half a chance.

If it did work you'd have a hella mess on your hands, one plant in two pots would be a bitch to move around without fucking up the root sysyems or the stalk, not to mention taking up an assload of real estate that other plants could be using.

Eh. I'm doing my very first grow right now. Just started a month ago so I'm not trying anything just yet!

Maybe a few months from now I'll try this. Need to see how this grows first.

The technique is called air layering. There are various methods similar to your drawing. But, it is possible to do this with many plants. After a year or two, you cut the plant in the middle and have to exactly identical plants.

Oh boy am I going to have fun!

Plans: 1 large rubber maid tote full of soil for 1 plant. Deliberately stretch the plant. Not too much but enough to stretch while still having stem strength. Keep dipping new growths in and out of the soil and try a Scrog.

dude, I just had a Idea kinda like this when I's reading another thread. but what if you did that with the lower branches? and they rooted. so then the plant would have like a bunch of seperate root systems, all taking up enough nutrients for a plant on their own. so I plant is getting the food of like 4 plants.

if it works like it does in my head, I could put a treehouse in that bitch. that'd be the shit, living in a fucking weed plant:hump:

Sounds really interesting. There's another thread on here that involves rooting gel and several different experiments. you should check it out. Basically it's half of your research, plus they explore different brands of rooting gels, solutions, hormones, toxicity levels of certain brands. Also the timing and whether you should use it in misting, etc.

Most plants do one of three things. Grow a tap-root, side-roots, or surface-roots. Cannabis is the ONLY plant that I know of that does all three root growths. So I start a seed out and intentionally get it to stretch by keeping light too high above the seedling. Once the seedling is a stretched 12 inches I peel the bottum several leaf-sets. I then pot is a 1 gallon container, all the the way down. I then pack dirt up to the top. Only a couple leaf-sets are showing, but the long stem is in dirt. It will root up to the top of the soil. Now my small plant has a great root to feed it.
